“Pet friendly hotel that tell lies (and doesn’t like dogs)”

Monday 15th February I phoned the hotel to confirm it was pet friends and specifically asked if our small dog was allowed into the restaurant and bar to sit with us while we had our meal. We were told YES, so booked straight away. Long drive (and ferry) from Palma and arrive Tuesday 16th at 8.30pm. We were then told that dogs were not allowed into either the restaurant or bar. Staff were most helpful contacting management to discuss this, but to no avail. We were told to either eat outside or leave the dog in the room if we wanted to eat in the restaurant. Not very pet-friendly. We eventually had our meal in the bedroom which we were very grateful for (thank you) Absolutely gutted and very disappointed and silently furious at booking a pet friendly hotel with an anti-pet policy, and also being lied to on the phone on Feb 15th. No excuses. Staff were very helpful, but supported management anti-pet policy.

“Between The Shining and The Grand Budapest Hotel”

I choose spa because I onew it would be an adventure in kitsch and historic faded beauty. It was all of this and more. At times it felt like a scene from Kubrick's the Shining and at other times it was straight out of a Wes Anderson film with shades of Sorentino. If you are looking for relaxation and or romance, this is not the spa for you. The massages are basic and lacking joy, the facilities have seen better days and there is a constant groaning coming from all corners of the 134 year old building. Honestly, its not great but there is a charm of times past, where people would holiday in these places for their health both physical and mental. Our fellow residents consisted mostly of octogenarians and their families which I found FANTASTIC. The sound of mobility walkers resonated through the halls throughout the day and evenings. The staff offer no explanations for anything. There are no rules posted no information as to how to best use the tiny antiquated spa. You are just left to figure it out. The spa felt as if it was simply creaking through each day awaiting the end, much like its patrons. If you have a bit of a dark sense of humour and a love for the slightly bizarre in the every day, this is the spa for you.

“Disappointed”

The rooms need a caring hand, the bed was not very comfortable. My husband asked for an extra pillow and first they told him that they were not sure if this could be provided, then a while later, someone came in at midnight with a pillow with no cover. The room needs renovation. There is not a lot of shade in the parking. Rooms are not well soundproofed, you can hear doors closing, steps from above and some doors need a bit of oil. Some staff were friendly but more staff or better organisation was needed, when we arrived, there was a long line and it took us almost 30 minutes to do the check in, the receptionist apologised. For the price, we would have expected to have included the spa (more than 180 Euros per night) but that wasn't the case. During breakfast pineapple didn't look great.

Beautiful hotel and grounds.

To be improved

The bar staff were never around always hiding out the back. Really rude. We ordered a rustico burger. Served cold with no Brioche bun as stated, barely fried and not caramalised onions. Ordered patatas bravas as they did not have chips. They were cold too. I guess our food was sat waiting to be taken while the chef looked for the staff.
