4Dreams Hotel Chimisay

I write this review because of all the negative reviews upon this site. I had a lovely quiet comfortable room, lighting and bed linen excellent. This is a very comfortable, affordable hotel in the centre of Puerto de la Cruz. TV had English channels, ie Sky News and CNN. Breakfast was also ok. It was very reasonable so no extras which I understood. The people at reception were very helpful and got me anything I needed. Also had goof WiFi. I recommend this hotel.

I had almost four weeks to get a feel for the place. My overall impression is a complete nightmare. The room was tiny, the bed a disaster, and none of the pictures of the hotel shown online are from today. The staff were friendly, but they still couldn't quiet the disrespectful teenagers—there were at least 20 of them. There was constant noise, loud conversations, and doors were slammed every minute until 2 a.m. Sleep was impossible under these circumstances. The hotel's furnishings are outdated. Breakfast was just about adequate for undemanding people. The hotel often responds to such reviews by suggesting that guests budget more for better service. I find this outrageous.

I wanted a cheap short break away in the sun on a budget so booked this hotel. I didn't expect palatial surroundings based on cost. What I had was a clean basic room with a comfortable bed, a pillow I could actually sleep on and an excellent cleaner who worked so hard and even folded my nightshirt 🥰 Yes, it needs updated but it served my needs and I found the receptionists helpful. It was well placed for the shops and restaurants and the roof terrace was spacious with new sun loungers delivered while I was there.

The hotel was extremely outdated and disappointing. The floorboards were broken and uneven, décor was worn and falling apart, and there were multiple maintenance issues, including broken doors and missing plugs in the sink and shower. Towels were unclean with visible hair, and there was a persistent unpleasant smell throughout the building. The air vent was loose and dislodged when doors were closed. The atmosphere felt unsafe, with suspected inappropriate activity occurring in the corridor. Food quality was very poor and appeared mostly shop-bought, and staff were limited, unwelcoming, and unprofessional. (Didn’t get many photos)

Stay here if you’re on a strict budget don’t mind slumming it for a few days and used to grimness. Back street hotel well placed for town centre, bars, restaurants shops. No thro traffic so relatively quiet location. Dull tatty interior reception area with seating and tv tho seating well used soiled and in need of a clean. Lift to accommodation floors but not all the way to the upper rooftop which has a small pool and sun terrace which is ok but again requires some maintenance and updating. Stairs at intervals to negotiate throughout corridors and to pool. Corridors tidy and generally cleaned but staff are working with threadbare carpets badly soiled and stained. Rooms are basic snappy furniture, old tatty bedding tho clean and must say comfy beds!! Bathroom full and basic poorly maintained grimy areas around bath & shower basic tho hot shower. Signs of mould and damp in and around bathroom generally broken filter fan. Basic stool which was stained and rusting in no hanging hooks for clothing towels etc. Breakfast room is disgusting bordering on Food hygiene malpractice. Tatty dining furniture, spun with old very thick cobwebs think the spiders have permanent residency! Old tired furniture broken tiled tops on dining tables. Filthy stained chair pads long overdue throwing in a skip! Greasy cold breakfast items probably cooked before 7 am and remain there until 10 am. Inedible and unrecognisable food items, cheap and low grade. Cereal dispensers broken meaning some guests with equally poor manners were using bare hands to grab the cereal from top of the canister! No cereal spoons the whole of our stay only plastic tea spoons?? Try using a fork to eat cereal with milk ! Certainly a challenge. Greasy unclean microwave whilst essential to reheat food if you’re desperate… obviously rarely if ever cleaned. Badly marked, old greasy finger prints on handle and dials dirty splashed microwave interior with same filthy cloth sat in tub of grimy water next to this all week??!! Unsure what it was used for dread to think. Redundant bar in reception we were told “it had been closed some months for refurbishment but progress was slow”. As there’s better places to go for a drink I would suggest they begin refurbishment elsewhere in this establishment! It’s not hard to see why but reception staff were glum and grunted the odd greeting now and again. Stay here at your peril !

The 4 Dreams offers great value for money: the location is perfect, and the staff (especially Silvia) could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended!
