Location was great

“Lovely family holiday”
Just had a lovely family week in the sun in Salou. Location - Perfect! A stunning quiet beach a stones throw away, with shops, bars and restaurants close by. Short 10 lovely minute walk along promenade to get to bustling Salou. Bedrooms - Clean and basic, beds not the most comfortable and air con noisy. Sea view from 8th floor stunning. Staff friendly and cleaned every day. Restaurant- Very good…Plenty of varied food choices. Just gets very busy with coach trips and sports teams so get there early. Bar - The only letdown, staff never smile and even though you have spent a lot of money for all inclusive, a simple drink order seems like a big effort, definitely need customer care training.
“Happy visitors”
Ideal location close to beach & short walk though slightly hilly to all the shops, restaurants and bars. Room had a beautiful balcony with pool & sea view. Staff were friendly & very helpful. Really enjoyed our stay. Entertainment was very enjoyable but would recommend changing the seating as a lot of seats facing away from the shows, would really recommend the hotel.
“Room poor but overall experience good”
Overall experience was really good. The food was second to none. The hotel spotless. Position 500 yrds from the beach but you better be fit, big hill or 89 steps! Booked with Tui. 4 star hotel. The room position 122 was very poor. No balcony! Hotel bins just below. Still throwing rubbish out at 2.00AM! Staff (kitchen staff etc.)in and out of doors next door! Reception staff said "your issue is with Tui not us". "You get what you pay for" When looking we disregarded all 3 stars and payed more. Clearly not enough! Would I go back, yes but book a balcony.
“Nice hotel just with a few issues to watch out for”
The salou park 1 is the nicer of the sister hotels, with a slightly older clientele reflecting the higher prices. The public areas are very nice, all very modern with a light airy feel and there is a nice pool area with ample beds. Great location with the small beach area close by, NB there are steep steps down to the beach or a long walk down quite a steep incline. It’s far enough away from the strip to be quiet, but close enough if that’s your thing. My room on the 8th floor is very nice, I have an inland view and the maid has been every day including Sunday. The room has a fridge which is super handy for storing drinks, and I was able to hire a kettle for a €20 deposit. A few issues have cropped up this week: 1. The key cards are very sensitive and have failed to stay active 5/6 days so far. So I climb 8 floors, only to find I can’t get in my room and have to go back to reception. 2. The lifts are a nightmare, it’s been said before so I’ll just leave this here. 3. The hotel caters to large tourist and school groups, you have been warned. At meal times this is frankly a joke as they are not allocated a separate area. 4. The food is hit and miss, more miss than hit though to be fair. PLEASE PLEASE if you have allergies, ask the waitress what is safe to eat when u arrive at the restaurant as the food labels do not advise u accurately. So far this week I have had vegetable soup with chicken in.. and mushroom/chicken risotto - labelled as such however had MUSSELS in!! I don’t have a seafood allergy but this is very very unusual for Spain as they have very high food standards and training.
“Cheap, cheerful and clean(enough)”
Just sitting here waiting for our transfer home and thought wed write a review. I'm going to be honest, we had a brilliant holiday, because we were in each others company. As a queer couple, we wanted a holiday and hotel that was safe and inclusive. Salou most definitely is LGBTQ+ FRIENDLY! There is a massive pride flag in the middle of the boulevard to which made us smile. Now for more details... The staff - really lovely, especially the bar and wait staff. Really friendly. The pool - well, let's be honest, the photos show a swim up bar, the bar area is still there but they have removed the seats, and the bar is closed. When we asked about it, we were told 'no, it's gone'! The rooms - very underwhelming, the photos are very deceiving and must have been taken a long time ago because they do not look like that anymore The entertainment - was hit and miss, we had a blast and made our own fun, but the hotel was very much full of the older generation, mainly Spanish and French. There were large tour groups here, these groups took priority, the animation/entertainment team were really attentive to them but barely spoke to the Brits. In the IG posts there were activities, such as Aqua aerobics but non of this happened while we're here. (Unless it happened when we had a beach day) The food - we were all inclusive, we aren't fussy eaters so we enjoyed, Sophey thoroughly enjoyed the desserts, me, I really enjoyed the salad bar. Drinks, as with most all inclusives it finishes at 11pm - we aren't big drinkers so that was ideal for us. Afterwards we left the hotel and went across the road to the roof top bar, they serve shisha, which was lovely. This little bar was great, they also hire out bikes, we did this and cycled down to the beach and down the boulevard and to the harbour, this was brilliant! Lots of beautiful views and fountains Other things to do - highly recommend House of Illusions 55€pp, includes 3 course meals and all drinks, magic shows currently run by Matt Edwards from BGT! It was fun, hilarious and really enjoyable. Little train - 6€pp and takes about 1hour and takes you around Salou, take your headphones and your will be guided. Catamaran tour - approx 44€pp GREAT!!! We had an absolute blast on this, if you like a day trip and the sea and good vibes, it's a must! Tattoo - 60€ min charge - we had tattoos from Golden Coast and the staff were great, salon, was spotless. You can get bus tour to Barcelona but we unfortunately missed this as it was fully booked. So book early. We randomly decided to get a taxi to Tarragon, approx 27€ each way and went to the museum 4€pp and wandered around port. This place felt 'Spanish' and was beautiful. Location - perfectly located, walking distance from the beach and strip. Overall - we had a wonderful holiday - good food, friendly staff, great location, hotel itself underwhelming but cheap, cheerful and clean(enough) Would we return here? No, but it's because Salou has become very commercial now!
