“Beautiful village and worth staying the night on the Camino!”

Great place. Very clean , lovely helpful staff. Good generous dinner but breakfast dismal. Packaged croissant( in Spain !!)white bread sandwich etc .

To be improved

Mixed dormitories, not necessary the night we stayed. We had a snorer and no one had any sleep.

The best

BEST communal dinner of anywhere we stayed along the Camino Frances. We loved visiting with other pilgrims, and the food was delicious (especially after getting caught in a thunderstorm... with hail... but I digress). We also appreciated the bathroom units. Even though they are "shared," each unit is its own private bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink.

Check in was easy and friendly. Room was spacious and very clean. Across the street from a restaurant/bar that was delicious and the owner was so friendly.

“Disappointing stay in an albergue with lots of potential.”

Compared to other albergues on the Camino, this one was more private and quiet (4 bunk beds in my room, shared by all women). It was clean and everything was in working order.

To be improved

I was checked in by the female host, who asked the cook next to her, if I could still order dinner. The cook said no, and my 70-yr old walking partner and I had to go without dinner. We missed ordering dinner by 30 minutes, and it has to be ordered in person, onsite. We were exhausted from walking nearly 30 km that day, and it being my first walking day, I had no real idea of how long it would take to arrive at the albergue. Still, I find their inflexibility with the dinner order non-welcoming and unsupportive of pilgrims. I don't think the cook had even begun to prepare the dinners, and another pilgrim later reported to me that the 2 pilgrims who arrived after us and were checked in by the male host were able to get dinner. Another annoyance was the lack of any method to dry my hands in the bathrooms (air dryer, towels, disposable paper towels). Even though most pilgrims carry a quick-dry towels, these would stay constantly wet if needing to be used for purposes other than bathing. Also, people are more likely to wash their hands, if soap and hand-drying method is provided in bathrooms, which makes for safer, more hygienic co-habitation. Toilet paper, hand towels, and dinner (in a remote setting)---basics to provide to pilgrims!

Very friendly staff - we arrived late in Zubiri & the host offered to collect us & take us back to Zubiri the following morning to continue our Camino. Fantastic restaurant in Larrasoana where I had the best burger I’ve had in a long time.
