“Bad bad bad...”
I travel several months per year, and stay at properties on Booking.com. This was the worst experience ever! With most hosts, you are greeted immediately with an email. From this host, nothing. I requested an early check in. No response. I submitted their registration form. No response. Finally, on my arrival day, Alcam tells me their cleaners will be working until 4 pm. Fortunately, I anticipated this, and had arranged with my very nice host at the previous apartment to check out late. I arrived at 4 pm. The place was a disgusting mess! No cleaning had been done. Obviously, Alcam had NOT been communicating with their cleaners during the day. To their credit, they did get the place cleaned... 2 hours later! The next day, water started to overflow from a bottle connected to the AC. I turned the AC off immediately, and messaged Alcam. They said their manager will get back to me. No response. The weather was not too hot in Oct, so it wasn't a big issue to leave the AC off. But during the hot summer in Valencia, I would not want to be without AC! I then noticed a few existing damaged items, so I sent photos to Alcam. They had my 300 EUR deposit, so I wanted to be sure I wouldn't be blamed for any of these. Well, sure enough, I got my deposit back... minus 80 EUR. I sent a message to Alcam asking why. No response. So after 2 weeks, I contacted Booking.com Support. They managed to get Alcam to respond. Oh, the toilet seat was damaged, they said. Seriously? It was fine when I left. I am super careful, and would have noticed. Then they sent me a photo of a broken shelf in the fridge. Yes, I already notified you about that! Oh, you didn't notify us until 2 days after you arrived. Really? I'm supposed to inspect every square inch of the property on the day I arrive, a day that was ruined because your cleaners did not show up.
