“After visiting lots of hotels in Tenerife this ranks near the bottom. Not a 4 star.”
A clean room but slow staff, average food and the all inclusive stops at 12 the day you leave so if you arrived late on day one you miss out. We won’t be returning.
“Outstanding Service from Florin – A Great Start to Our Stay ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”
We arrived yesterday from the UK and are staying at the Alexander Troya Hotel for 7 days. Before booking, we had read a few reviews mentioning that the rooms on the first couple of floors facing the promenade can be quite noisy at night because of nearby clubs, especially Veronicas. Unfortunately, that’s exactly the room we were first given first floor and facing the promenade. We spoke to reception about it, and one of the managers, Florin, was incredibly helpful from the start. He kindly suggested that we give the room a try for the first night and said that if it was too noisy, he would arrange a room change the next day. He kept his word completely. The room was indeed very noisy, with music going on through the night, and when we asked to move, he was very understanding and helpful. What made the experience even more appreciated was that my wife started having really bad tooth pain shortly after we arrived. We were trying to find a dentist online, and Florin once again stepped in to help. He assisted us by calling a clinic and arranging an appointment, which was such a relief for us, especially being abroad and just having arrived. That level of care and professionalism really stood out. Florin went above and beyond to help us, and it made a huge difference to our stay. The food has also been great so far very tasty and enjoyable. This review is especially for Florin, because after just two days, he has already made such a positive impact on our holiday. Excellent customer service, very kind, professional, and genuinely helpful. A big thank you to him and the hotel team. 5 stars from us.
“Brilliant experience”
My recent stay at Hotel Troya in Tenerife completely exceeded my expectations. Although it’s officially rated as a four-star hotel, I would confidently say it delivers an experience that goes beyond that standard. The location is ideal—just a short walk from the beach, making it perfect for both relaxation and convenience. From the moment you step through the entrance, there’s an immediate sense that you’ve chosen the right place. The reception staff set the tone brilliantly: welcoming, professional, and always willing to help. Dining at the hotel was another highlight. While the main restaurant operates as a buffet, it offers an impressive variety of high-quality options to suit all tastes. For something more casual, the poolside bar serves excellent food throughout the day. I would strongly recommend going all-inclusive—not only for the convenience, but also because the drinks are genuinely enjoyable. Unlike the watered-down beverages you sometimes find elsewhere, the drinks here were consistently well-made, flavourful, and served with a smile by the friendly bar staff. The pool areas are fantastic. The main pools are heated, which makes a big difference, and there’s plenty of space to relax without the usual early-morning rush to reserve sunbeds. A standout feature is the adults-only infinity pool on the upper level—definitely worth visiting for a more მშვიდ and scenic experience. The wellness and spa centre is another major plus. With facilities including a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, Turkish baths, foot spa, and indoor pool, it’s a perfect place to unwind. For the best experience, I’d recommend visiting during quieter periods. As for the rooms, they are modern, clean, and comfortable. If you’re fortunate enough to have a room with a view, it truly adds something special to your stay. The beds are comfortable, and the bathroom facilities are well-maintained and practical. Finally, the entertainment provided by the hotel is enjoyable and adds to the overall experience without being overwhelming. Overall, I had a fantastic stay and would like to extend my sincere thanks to all the staff at Hotel Troya for making my visit so memorable. I would not hesitate to return.
“Clean but restaurant terrible”
This hotel is in a brilliant location, on the beach front, with bars and restaurants close by. The rooms are clean and modern and the pool areas are very good. The really bad problem is the restaurant. We were half board and the breakfast was ok, but tables not cleared very quickly and cutlery missing. Evening meal was terrible. Not 4 star probably 2 stars. Breads and salad area was ok, but hot food was terrible. Hardly anything to choose from. Even if you chose some simply chips, there was nothing to go with them. I have stayed in many 4 and 3 star hotels and this restaurant has to be the worst. If you are thinking of staying here, then only do bed and breakfast.
“Not very good”
Location ok atmosphere ok rooms nice not value for the money the reception staff were nice and helpful the cleaning of the rooms were good but the food was cold a lot of times had to cue or wait for empty food trays to be refilled they were very slow and sometimes ignored you there were a couple of staff serving who were nice the tables took a long time to clean they were very slow and most miserable had to cue at the outside bar as there was only 1 or sometimes 2 serving as for the snack bar it was unbelievable there was no food on display you had to ask the bar staff for it I’ve been to loads of hotels all over Europe etc and never seen this it was like they were penny pinching we went to this hotel years ago and it was nice but it has changed for the worst other people had the same views I would not go there again please learn your waitress and waiter’s to smile be polite it makes all the difference there was one guy who served the fried eggs he was so friendly and polite the staff should learn off him I would not go here again and I have not ever made a review of any hotel I have been to
“Basic hotel with basic 3 star facilities. Dint feel like a 4 star”
I recently stayed at Alexandre Troya Hotel and overall had an average experience with some positives and several areas that could definitely be improved. Check-in was at 14:00 and check-out at 12:00, which was straightforward and fairly standard. As we were travelling with a baby, the reception staff were helpful and allocated us a quiet room with a sea view and provided a cot, which we appreciated. One issue we had during our stay was with the air conditioning. It appeared to be centrally controlled by the hotel and was running constantly throughout the day and night, so we couldn’t switch it off. This meant the room became quite cold overnight, which made it uncomfortable for our baby to sleep. When we mentioned it to reception, they were helpful and quickly provided extra blankets. Housekeeping was reliable — the room was cleaned daily and towels were changed every day. Nothing went missing from our room during the stay, which was reassuring. The room itself looked newly renovated but done on a budget. It was good enough for our stay and the shower room was spacious, although there was no bath. The bed was made up of two single beds pushed together to form a king bed, which might not be ideal for couples who prefer one proper mattress. The biggest disappointment was the food. Breakfast was exactly the same every day for the full 7 days. On two of those days they had already run out of porridge and beans. Basic juice, water and hot drinks were available freely at breakfast. We stayed on a half-board basis, and dinner (tea) was also very repetitive throughout the week. The live cooking station served pork, assorted fish, chicken, turkey and beef, but everything tasted quite bland and seemed to only be seasoned with salt. Most of the buffet food was cold to lukewarm — if you prefer hot meals, this may be frustrating. Fruit options were limited and overall the menu felt very repetitive. Cups, plates, wine jugs and glasses were always dirty and sticky with food remnants and gunk. Clearly not washed well. Another thing worth noting is that on half board you are not allowed any drinks at dinner, not even water. All drinks including water, wine or beer had to be paid for. These were charged to the room and paid at check-out. This was not clearly explained by the dinner staff at the start, which was a bit disappointing. The entertainment was also quite poor. Most evenings featured singers who unfortunately weren’t very good, and the music was often played far too loudly which made it unpleasant to sit through. There was supposed to be a kids’ mini disco at 8:00pm, but this only happened once during the entire week. The location is excellent. The beach is literally on the doorstep of the hotel. It’s a clean beach with soft sand and clear water. Surfing and paddle boarding were great here, with lovely waves in some parts of the beach. The beach and promenade are also very child-friendly and wheelchair accessible, making it easy to take long walks along the coast with a pram or wheelchair. There are plenty of restaurants and shops all around the area, and both Siam Park and Siam Mall are only about a 20-minute walk away. One of the highlights of the stay was definitely the pool area. There are two warm heated pools on the ground floor where kids are allowed, and another more premium adults-only pool upstairs (which we didn’t try). There were always plenty of sunbeds available throughout the day, which made relaxing by the pool easy. The only downside was the lifeguard presence, which didn’t seem very attentive — sometimes he wasn’t there or didn’t appear alert, so if you’re travelling with children it’s best to keep a very close eye on them. Overall, while the hotel has a great location, decent rooms and a lovely pool area, the food quality, entertainment and some service aspects could definitely be improved. In the end, the stay didn’t really feel worth what we paid for.
