“Exceptional”

The best

This was yet another stay in an extraordinary riad in an extraordinary city during Holy Week (amazing impressions from the afternoon and evening processions). Relatively large riad (with a small, well-kept patio and a small, neat terrace allows you to admire the magnificent view of the Alhambra located on the opposite side of the river valley (there are restrictions on access to the terrace in the morning and evening time). The room is spacious with a small, functional bathroom (with a window). The windows in the room usually overlook the patio without a roof, so there is no shortage of fresh air from the mountains. Double bed with comfortable high mattresses. Kitchenette in the room with a fridge and basic appliances, equipment and tableware. Very clean, quiet and cozy. WiFi ok. Safe house and area in Albaicin - the most attractive district of the city apart from the loud clubs and noisy downtown restaurants. Shops, restaurants, cafes / teterias are no more than 5 minutes walk away. The train and long distance bus stations (a little further than train one) can be reached on foot in 45 minutes with a suitcase on wheels. But it is better to take a taxi unless it is rush hour! The city can be clog up. There are also buses and minibuses available in Granada but they also won't get through during rush hour. From the street accessible to taxis you have to walk about 150m slightly uphill - the most convenient way is from the bottom (from the river side) because there are some stairs from the street above. The contact with the friendly owners is excellent. You can use a traditional key or an access code to the entrance door from the street on a daily basis.

“Amazing host, location and facilities”

The best

On arrival we were greeted by our host Vikki, she showed us around, gave us useful information about the city and made us feel very welcome. It is a nice apartment with great facilities, very spacious and comfortable. Location is very good, within walking distance to main attractions. Also, the building has a terrace with an amazing view of Alhambra.

To be improved

Nothing at all, everything was great.

“Quiry, good location, ongoing damp issue that should be rectified asap!”

The accommodation was very quaint & once we realised that it was easier to get from the accommodation than our arrival route then it was satisfactory and central to the main attractions etc.

To be improved

There was a major concern in the smaller bedroom initially with an ongoing damp issue. This was originally hidden by a plant pot with dried flowers but I noticed this once we entered the room & it was in the master bedroom also. The paint in the smaller room was all peeling off the wall, in the master in was over on the outer wall of the bedroom, I developed a cough on our second night and came home with a chest infection which I have only just got over. On arrival I pointed this out to our host immediately who said it was not like that earlier. I told him immediately that I did not agree with what he replied and that this was an ongoing issue and that it needed to be sorted. On departure I told him about my concerns in both rooms, that I had developed a cough which I get when a room is damp and he again appeared to be shocked. The lighting in the main bedroom one of the wall lights was not satisfactory and the bulb was not very strong so I had to move the lamp to see properly in the mirror. I appreciate that this was a older quirky building but I did not appreciate that we we're staying in accommodation that has an ongoing damp issue. I have not yet written to the owners as I have been ill. Also whilst the host advised we could get a taxi outside the station we we're not advised of the shorter walking route. When we departed the station it said 23 minutes it took us 43 minutes as the route took us completely up hill and I have a issue with my left leg which was not helped by walking up the vast amount on steps on that current route. When our host arrived and we we're waiting outside and he approached at the lower road level he was surprised that we took that route? Had we been told that there was a shorter route when we we're advised that there we're taxis outside we would not have opted in the heat also to have walked the unnecessary route when did manage to take. I cant believe that the damp issue has not previously been advised.

“A great place”

The best

Within the sightseeing area. Luis answered questions quickly. Told us better take taxi into the apt with luggage. Kitchen with adequate utensils, tea, coffee, salt, pepper, oil. Roof top views of the Alhambra a must.
