“Much better than expected.”
Stayed recently at the Alp Hotel Masella and I was pleasantly surprised by it's quality. After having read the other reviews which are quite unfair, I had extremely low expectations. The Rooms are nice featuring a modern design, comfy beds, lots of lights, sockets, a TV, large wardrobe and a modern and spacious bathroom. Housekeeping was good and always replaced the towels etc etc. The food was overall good but a bit beige at times. It is carbohydrate heavy so will certainly give you the necessary energy for skiing and there is something for everyone. The entertainment is very good, the reps speak good English and try their hardest to get everyone involved. The lounge was good with comfy sofas, a fire, pool tables and table football, and a bar which was surprisingly good value for example only €3.00 for 500ml of coke which is good considering the location and all ice creams are €2.50. The staff are also friendly and good English speakers. Overall, I had a thoroughly pleasant stay in the Alp Hotel Masella and I would certainly come again. The bad reviews seem very unfair.
“Very bad”
Extremely bad food. Frozen warmed up. Bed size 135 cm. Full of adolescents, approx 300. Spa and facilities not able to use, all full to overflowing with adolescent boys. Parties in the floor above our room until 3am. It would have been a moral and ethical gesture on the part of the hotel to inform us thus giving us the option to cancel. We booked 6 days before arrival, the hotel would have known about the school parties booked in.
“Not Worth the money”
We paid 130 eur and this was completely overpriced It’s a youth hostel !!! Uncomfortable beds Sauna broken No parking Unfriendly service at reception Very unfriendly Its actually bad standard Don’t waste your money
“Decent for one or two nights - family oriented hotel”
The only hotel in Masella itself.. so not much choice. Very convenient location. The staff is very kind and helpful, speaks several languages. But the hotel is quite hold and would need renovation. Outdated pool area, sofas in the lounge are quite old and dirty, rooms are very noisy. Don't consider it as a lovely hotel stay - just as accommodation for your ski week-end and then it's fine. We enjoyed the bar, talking to staff, kids have a lot to do so great for family. Ok buffets for food, good for kids, less for adults. Wifi poor in the rooms.
“Not worth it”
The hotel is horrible. The rooms are dark, the bed is like sleeping on a rock and to top it off it was two twin beds put together. The restaurant is bad cafeteria food. Cold food, some looks like it has been reheated multiple times. The salad looked wilted. There is really nothing to recommend this hotel. Go elsewhere! Quality vs price this hotel is way overpriced!
“Perfect for a school ski trip.”
Back to the Alp hotel after 5 years and it was as good as ever, fourth time staying there. Perfect for a school party. So close to the slopes and ski lockers. Rooms are average size with family rooms and twins, some have a balcony and some pairs of rooms share a lounge area. There is a massive bar area with games and a stage, 'animations' are put on every evening to entertain the pupils, including a disco in the basement. There is a pool but I've never used it. The wifi is free and works well considering that hundreds of people are trying to all access it at the same time! The lifts work fine as long as you don't over load them! The food in plentiful, hot and there is always a range of dishes to choose from, the range of vegetarian dishes has improved and they even attempted to help pupils requiring halal.Considering there were at least 10 schools staying the noise level was bearable. Teenagers are not always quick to settle at night! If you don't want noise avoid half term holidays!
