“A very relaxing stop.”
Very comfortable newly renovated hotel.
There is nothing else around, but the hotel, and a bar.
“Good hotel but grey town”
The hotel is nice and clean, good beds, staff very friendly. Good starting point for our purpose: bird watching.
The town is a bit depressing: no trees/plants, not much activity.
“Good Service”
We were very well received and the owners went out of their way to look after us. They made that extra effort. Very good value for money.
The location is not that convenient for the Camino Via de la Plata, but we quickly got back on the route
“Perfect for a birding weekend, and very good value for money.”
I travelled to Villafáfila to for birdwatching at a time of the year (early April) when the ´lagunas´have a chance to be filled with water (This year they were flooded!). The hotel is very well situated for rapid access to birding localities of interest, and also nearby cultural/historical sites. The town is almost empty at this time of year, and it is also not picturesque in any way. There is an old, well-kept church, and the streets are clean. The hotel has been recently renovated so rooms, bathrooms etc are modern, and very clean, but with the spartaneous style typical for rural Spainish hotels/hostals. Breakfast was also the typical Spanish with coffee (I had ColaCao) and toast with marmalade. I should add here that the bread was delicious so if the breakfast was simple it was still memorable. I could also ask for a lunch box with bread, cheese and ham. The hotel has a simple but nice restaurant where they offer a daily menu with choice of either meat or fish (I have no idea if they can arrange something vegetarian). So, not a lot of choice, but well made and tasty. This is very convenient as there is not many other places where to eat in the surroundings. They also have a bar. There is free parking for maybe max 10 cars just outside the hotel, but places can be found also along the nearby streets. The owners were always available in the bar or restaurant and are very nice and helpful. I had to use my rudimentary Spanish, and it was sufficient.
I have a back problem, so the bed mattress was a bit too soft for me. Probably OK for others. I find nothing else to complain about.
