I've encountered a significant issue with the host's key policy. At checkout, I was informed not to leave the keys in the apartment. Instead, I was expected to personally deliver them to the cleaning lady, who lives considerably far away. When I voiced my concerns, he offered an alternative: depositing the keys in lockers roughly a kilometer away, which is inconvenient with luggage. This arrangement negatively affected my travel plans. I suggested that he could easily resolve the matter by giving the cleaning lady an extra set of keys, ensuring guests aren't inconvenienced. Instead of addressing my proposal constructively, the host threatened to contact booking.com and extra charge me. I faced a similar problem during check-in. I was required to go to the cleaning lady's address with my luggage, only to find she wasn't there, which resulted in me waiting. I had anticipated such a scenario, so I had previously asked the host to provide the cleaning lady's phone number. Regrettably, he disregarded my request. While the journey from the train station to the apartment should have been a 30-minute trip with minimal walking while carrying luggage, the host's key policy added an extra hour to my journey and involved extensive walking with my luggage. From my perspective, it's clear that this key issue is a recurrent problem for many guests. A simple solution would be to provide the cleaner with an extra set of keys, ensuring a hassle-free checkout experience.
