To be improved

Check in and check out process could’ve been more seamless, and driving in and out of the parking garage added several minutes to every drive. Also didn’t have a functional shampoo dispenser and the handsoap was empty when we arrived.

“Great location but not very clean”

The best

The place is right in the centre of La Laguna and about a 10-min walk to a tram stop for trams going to Santa Cruz. There was a private parking space in an underground parking lot, which was great. The flat has a washing machine and a dryer which came in handy. The size of the flat is good and the kitchen is well-equipped.

To be improved

The apartment wasn't very clean. There was hair in the shower and stuck to the bathroom walls around and above the door. The only explanation I could find for how it ended up there is that it looked like someone mopped the floor and then used the same dirty mop to wipe the walls. Also most of the cutlery and plates were dirty and we ended up having to wash everything before use. The flat is on the ground floor with windows coming out to a street, so you have pedestrians walking literally just outside your window and drivers able to look right into the flat. For that reason, we kept the widow shutters closed most of the time - we had to choose between privacy and sunlight.

“Family holiday/ Visiting our daughter”

The best

Location was excellent for us as it was less than 5 minutes walk to our daughter's apartment (language degree year abroad). Lots of extras had been thought of e.g. adapters, toiletries, sauce and mayonnaise sachets. Having a designated parking space in underground car park was a big advantage as parking in the streets looked almost impossible. It was very quiet, very little traffic noise and quiet neighbours. The supermarket was about a 2 minute walk away. Host was very easy to communicate with and quick to respond via WhatsApp. All check-in information including photos of gate, door, key in security box, car park gate fob were given. Maximum information given as long as you use WhatsApp. Had to collect keys from a security box on the front of a building a few minutes walk away but not a problem as it was easy to find. We were sad to leave and wished we could have stayed longer.

To be improved

This isn't really a negative, more useful information for future guests. Make sure to have data roaming on as check in information is all given via WhatsApp although, on booking.com it said 'someone would meet you there'. As my phone provider doesn't include free data roaming, I had my data turned off. This did cause some confusion on arrival as the car park gate was open as someone had just left, so we drove in then couldn't get out as the fob for opening the gate was on the kitchen table, we found out later. So when I realised all the information was on WhatsApp directly from the owner, it was straightforward.
