Our host provided English translations in all text communications, since we do not speak Spanish. He also provided his telephone number. Three days before arrival, our host sent us a series of maps and satellite pictures of the surrounding area and location of the apartment on Whatsapp. He also provided GPS coordinates which are useful, as the apartment is in a small residential block set back from the road. Although on the ground floor, access is via a few steps, due to the sloping nature of the site. The surrounding area is very quiet and the apartment is not directly overlooked by the neighbouring properties. Our arrival was delayed by several hours, due to our car breaking down, but we were still met on arrival by the host’s brother who spoke good English and gave us an introduction to the apartment. He also booked a taxi to take us on to Santander Ferry Port in the morning, since our car had been left at a garage for repair. The apartment is well-furnished, with plenty of comfortable seating in the lounge. The main bedroom has a standard double bed and is well supplied with pillows and a lightweight duvet, appropriate for the summer season when we stayed there. The décor of the bedroom is characterful. We did not use the second bedroom. The bathroom is spacious, well-equipped and very clean. The kitchen is well-equipped with a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, combi-microwave and coffee machine. There is no kettle. The saucepans and frying pans are suitable for use on the electric induction hob. Crockery, cutlery, etc. are all provided. The windows have electrically powered vertical security shutters and we were taken by surprise when a timer began closing them automatically in the evening! We found all the rooms to be very clean. The kitchen had plenty of cleaning materials, including a supply of dishwasher and washing machine capsules. The bathroom was also very clean, with towels, liquid soap and several rolls of toilet paper.
