Apartamentos Alcalá - Tenerife

I had a very unpleasant experience with the person at the check in. A patronizing man who decided he could be just plain unpolite with me. I did stay anyway because we needed a place last minute, and they were the only affordable option in the area. Which of course they know, and they use as a justification of their attitude. The place is a money-making machine: old mattresses, cheap bed linen, no soundproofing, minimal kitchen tools. However, my review would have been slightly higher, had I not been treated so poorly.

Location was perfect

We booked an apartment with roof terrace with mountain view at Apartamentos Alcala. To pick up the keys check-in was 2 minutes up the road at Pension Alcala. When we got there we were told the apartment was there and not at the location we booked. The terrace was not private to us and was used for drying the blocks sheets and towels. The staff had a key to the terrace, did not knock and could come and go as they liked. The terrace floor was in need of cleaning and also the apartment windows and there was thick dust under the bed. The very unfriendly reception manager was rude and arrogant and would not discuss my concerns with me. God forbid you rang the bell earlier than 3pm to ask if it was possible to collect the keys earlier! If we wanted to stay at Pension Alcala which seemed more like a hostel I would have booked there and not at Apartamentos Alcala where we wanted to stay. Checkout time at 10am is too early and I was not happy paying a deposit of 80 euros for breakages or leaving later than 10am.
