“Great location and clean, functional modern flat”
Great location, in a quiet street 5 mins from the main square, and 10 or 15 from the Roman museum/theatre/amphitheatre/temple of Diana. Shops, bars, cafes etc all within a few mins, and 1 min to the lovely park by the river and amazing bird roost at dusk of herons, egrets, geese etc. The flat is cool (and dark) but with air con in both bedrooms and the living room should you need it. There is some free street parking if you're lucky, but check carefully. The host was ever so helpful and quick to respond. Merida is a great place off the tourist track and definitely worth it if you are interested in Roman history, or just want to sit with a drink and watch the world go by. Have Google translate at the ready if you don't speak Spanish (although the host's English was brilliant). Merida isn't quite geared up for the usual tourist trade. Which is rather refreshing.
The flat had all the basics you might need, but no frills. If I were to be really picky, a couple of extra little things would have helped eg there were sharp knives but no bread knife, recycling bins but no ordinary bin. Nothing you can't live without for a few days and certainly not enough reason not to stay. I would go back and do recommend the flat.
“Excellent location in a newly refurbished property.”
