APARTAMENTOS LOS ABUELOS - Cordoba

Property has a check in time of 4pm which is already pretty late. The owner does not communicate on the phone and requires all communication to be via WhatsApp. Check-in time agreed to was 4pm and we were offered early luggage drop off. At 3pm when we tried to drop off luggage, I found the apartment was not cleaned, nobody was cleaning it, and in fact had a massive leak in the kitchen with water stream stretching 7 feet long that had turned brown due to long stay on the floor. When I notified the owner, he replied he would notify maintenance. This was disingenuous because the multiple buckets on the kitchen counter and a mop on the floor clearly showed they knew of the leak and had done what they could to deal with it short-term. When I asked if another room was available, the response was “No, this is your room,” even though the property seemed to have multiple levels each with multiple floors. I gave them until 5pm to clean up the room and address the leak, and waited in the car in 37 degree heat. At 5 pm nothing had changed, at six pm pm, the same. In fact nobody even showed up to look us up. Only at 5PM The owner then told me that they were having issues with cleaning and repair crew and asked that we show understanding in view of their courtesy to allow early luggage drop off!! They also agreed to allow cancellation with no fee which I thought was appropriate and the only sign of professional courtesy up to that point. I accepted and at six pm when there had been no intervention or additional update from Alexander, I asked Booking for cancellation with no fee, but upon contacting the owner, Booking reported that the owner had refused to wave the cancellation fee and the cancellation would cost me $400 even though I had his agreement to cancellation with no fee in our WhatsApp texts.

Unresponsive host; the place was disgustingly filthy eventhough we had been charged a cleaning fee. The dirty bed linen and the towels were thrown in a corner of the bathroom in a big pile. There was no clean linen available to cover any of the mattresses or pillows. The pillows themselves as well as the mattresses had really sickening hair and stains on them. We messaged the host about the condition of the place but he didn't respond till the next morning when we were checking out. Being 10 pm at night (our arrival time), we didn't have any other option. We found a relatively clean duvet (which still had stains on it but lesser than the mattress) and spread it across the bed to sleep on. The lounge was filthy with crumbs and dust on the sofa. The floor had hair all over it. The kitchen surfaces were clean but the floor was filthy with dirt piled up in the corner next to the door leading to the balcony. The dustbin had no liner in it. The worst part is that the host said he would return the cleaning fee, but he still hasn't done so.

Kitchen was not clean. It had oil spilled all over the counter and on the floor (I didn't notice at first and ruined my clothes). There was no shampoo, when it was mentioned among the things included. The bed was uncomfortable and the sheets were very low quality. The bathroom smelled like urine.
