“Unprofessional and anxiety inducing experience. Do not stay here!”
It was nice to have a laundry machine to wash clothes. Space in general was clean and had kitchen utensils to use. The location was good, 4 minute walk to Metro stop.
The process to check in to the apartment was long and consisted of many phone calls. My husband and I can speak Spanish about at intermediate level and struggled to communicate with the host. The staff on the phone were rude when we attempted to speak in Spanish. They required a deposit of $200 on top of original booking fees that had to be paid by outside website from Booking.com. They did not give us the address until later and the process overall was very confusing. Once we had gotten into our apartment and were napping, someone opened the door with the key code. Luckily we had the deadbolt locked. A woman pounds on the door demanding to know who we are. She never identified herself as a staff member or what her name was. We show her our reservation and she says they double booked the apartment. She realizes we were legit and not squatting in the apartment and leaves. Was a VERY unprofessional and rude interaction that would've been solved had she called her co-worker for our information. Later in our stay, we received 2 noise complaints. 1 of which was caused by their AC wall unit making beeping noises while we were gone. The wifi only worked for a few days out of the week we stayed there. Also have not received our $200 deposit back a week later, even though we throughly cleaned (sweep/wash dishes, take out trash) and laundered the towels. If you like to sleep with peace of mind knowing someone won't try to get into the apartment, go somewhere else.
“Good”
“Stay away (dirty, smells mold), definitely NOT recommended.”
Although the property was paid I never received the exact address of the property. I was told only after arrival that I need to pay a deposit in order to get the code for the door. The customer service hardly spoke English. The apartment was dirty (you could easily see dirt on the floor) and you could smell the mold in the bathroom. I had booked the next apartment with two rooms and two beds and without any warning we were assigned to the smaller one with only one double bed.
“So good but the location was too far comparing the price (high season on new year)”
Furniture, facilities, cleanliness, security
Too small, washing machine next to bed, too noisy because it was on ground floor with windows directly on the street, location is too far from Centro
“Basement with no windows, with thin walls to adjcent apartment.”
The property is located a 3min walk from a metro stop, a massive plus when staying in Madrid. There is also a lovely bakery on the corner which is a must for breakfast.
1. Safety/security. The apartment is effectively a basement with no windows. It has a door directly onto the street with no security cameras, and the door can be accessed via a 4 digit code. Meaning that someone trying to access has got a chance of guessing correctly. There was no apparent fire alarm and one bedroom was beyond the kitchen in the basement with no windows (photo of “the window” attached) meaning that there would be no escape in the event of a fire. This would not meet fire regulations for a habitation in many developed countries. 2. Noise. we received a noise complaint on our first night from our kids watching TV, a little perplexed we apologised, turned off the Tv and sent everyone to bed. We though nothing of it until the next evening our neighbours came in late and we could hear every single thing happening in the adjacent apartment, which seems to be only separated by a partition wall, which ironically was important to note could be broken through in the event of a fire. 3. All in all Madrid is an expensive place to stay with a family, and this place was well located and clean, but on the basis is of safety and security I would not be recommending this one.
