Apartamentos Sol Madrid

Complicated directions to use three codes to get the keys. First thing to hit us when entering was strong cigarette smell which took at least 48 hours to dissipate. This will be hard to prevent when people think standing on the balcony to smoke is equal to not smoking in the room. The listing said there was A/C but there wasn't. The refrigerator froze everything regardless of the dial setting. Seems like all their rooms are similarly decorated so they can use the same pictures but they are not the same. The rooms are different shapes and sizes and only one has the arched balcony door. The charming architectural door is VERY bad noise barrier and the room is one floor off the busiest and loudest street in Madrid. It is only one lane but any hour of the day (or night) is a constant parade of vehicles (often loud ones). I am a VERY good sleeper and the only night I got a FAIR nights sleep was when I used earplugs. And that was with the door closed. Since there is no A/C you might desire to leave the door open but you will not sleep. The other rooms without the arched door and particularly the interior ones may be quite acceptable.

Due to the location it was noisy until quite late. Even when people stopped going past as much there was still a bit of traffic. Not a major issue for me, but it would be annoying for some people. It is also a very small space and the cooling wasn't great. I visited in summer and it wasn't unbearable but it was a bit unpleasant.

There was nothing we didn’t like – everything met or exceeded our expectations :)
