“Promising place spoiled by noise and poor communications”

It's a spacious apartment on a pleasant street in a great city--should be ideal, but wasn't in our experience.

To be improved

We've stayed in at least a couple of dozen different hotels and apartments in Spain; this is the only one where we were seriously frustrated at our arrival. The confirmation of we received from Booking.com stated that we would be met at the property, and nothing in my communication with the landlord indicated otherwise; that we were told we would be helped with parking when we arrived confirmed my expectation. We showed up at the time we indicated but found no one there. I was able to reach the landlord through Booking.com, at which point we were given the codes we needed to enter and a couple of suggestions about where to park. I don't understand why this information could not have been given to us earlier, along with a little more about the parking options (thanks to a closed street, we wasted quite a while trying to reach the first spot, when in fact the second was nearly as close and much more accessible). Just after we arrived in the apartment, around 6:15 in the afternoon, a loud grinding/cutting sound began in the building next door, which is in the midst of substantial renovation. It stopped before we left a few minutes later, but it wasn't encouraging. We were out the next day until mid-afternoon, but when we were about to leave again, around 5:15, the sound returned at an intolerable volume, beyond what would be permitted in a factory, let alone a residence. We were out all the next day so I don't know if it recurred. I understand that the landlord can't control what's happening next door, but if noise like that is a regular feature, the apartment is effectively uninhabitable. Other complaints are minor: the internet isn't reliable (and doesn't work at all in some parts of the apartment); the kitchen lacks cooking basics; the beds, pillows, and sheets aren't the most comfortable--all that I could overlook.

The whole flat, spacious, big bathroom with a bathtub. View from terrace is super nice. Location wise precious.
