“Nice apartment let down by poor hosts.”

The property itself was fine, it was a good location, the apartment was clean and well equipped and nice to have the little courtyard garden.

Unfortunately we had a poor experience with the hosts of the apartment. Firstly, comms in the run up were not clear - possibly due to language barrier but this was the final night of a weeks long trip around Spain and the instructions on arrival were the poorest we encountered. Secondly, when enquiring about parking, I was advised to book parking which was about 10mins walk away and cost EUR 15 per night which we did. However, on arrival we noticed there was free parking, just one minute walk away which had plenty of spaces. This should have been presented as an option. At the very least to advise that we could drop our luggage here and take it to the apartment rather than traipse through the town in very hot temperatures. It seems the parking host was a friend and this was a money making exercise. Thirdly, on arrival with our two dogs, we were advised of additional charges which I immediately acknowledged and agreed to pay by bank transfer. We went out for some dinner on arrival and I had thought I would make the payment in the morning before we departed. However on arriving back at the apartment, I saw I had three threatening messages demanding payment (with consequences if immediate payment was not made), the last one sent at seven minutes past midnight, which was completely unnecessary and over the top since the payment totalled EUR 20 and I had said I would pay it. For this reason I would not stay here again.

“Fantastic place to stay in Ubeda!”

This was a fabulous apartment! There are four separate apartments in the building, two on the ground floor and two upstairs. Ours was on the ground floor, with direct access to the courtyard. The other ground floor unit also has direct access, while the two upper units must enter through a shared hallway. In the courtyard there’s comfortable seating, clotheslines, and clothes pegs - wonderful! There’s a free public parking lot +/- 150 metres away; we were always able to find a parking spot. The apartment is within easy walking distance to everything in town, but it’s in a very quiet area. It’s completely silent at night! The owner was always available by phone and provided us with clean towels, toilet paper, etc., when we needed them.

The only issue we had was a minor one - when we arrived we phoned the owner (or perhaps he was the manager) - his English wasn’t great, nor is our Spanish, but we managed! He gave us the code to the lockbox, we were then required to simultaneously press a button on each side of the lockbox to open it. But because the lockbox is located close to the side wall, we didn’t see the button on the left side, and were pressing only the one we saw, the one on the right side. My husband finally figured it out! So take note if you’re in the same position - press the buttons on both sides of the lockbox!

“Excellent location, beautiful modern unit”

The best

This is a modern, well thought out unit that has everything you need. The bed is comfortable, the shower is great and it has excellent supplied amenities. The kitchen was well equipped. The staff are close by, but off site, and were incredibly helpful when we had a little bit of trouble accessing the keys (I think it was user error!). The unit is around 100 metres from the main historical buildings that you will want to visit so the location is excellent. We were driving ourselves around and parking was also available a short walk back to the unit.
