“Comfortable sunny apartment”

The best

We loved our stay in this sunny apartment, we particularly enjoyed the big balcony which was sunny even in December. Beds were comfortable and although the kitchen is tiny it’s well equipped and we were able to self cater. We enjoyed the location close to the nicest beaches and 15 minutes walk to the old town.

“woeful”

The best

The location is pleasant enough in a residential area so only a couple of cafes within walking distance. The main town is a scenic 15 mins walk along the seafront and there is also a bus from the bottom of the road. The bus and train station is also walkable. The terrace is nice but overlooks a four lane highway out of town so is very noisy. It's not as private as photos suggest because next door's balcony is right alongside. The seating cushions were damp and stained although the dining table and awning were good. We were informed the day before we left the UK that the lift wasn't working. Because we thought the patio looked so inviting, we said we'd manage . What they didn't say was that the lift was being repaired with noisy work right above our heads from 8.30am. There were 10 flights of stairs and over 80 steps. But that was the least of our worries.

The apartment itself is very basic with tired, stained furnishings and well worn (small) towels. There is a noticeable absence of any personal touches to make your stay comfortable. The bedrooms are spartan and the cupboards very musty smelling so we did not unpack our clothes during our 3 nights stay. As noted in other reviews the kitchen is tiny and very narrow. You can't open the dishwasher or fridge fully and there is no room for more than one person at a time. Doing anything more than making a sandwich or frying an egg is a challenge. There is another patio off the kitchen but that overlooked a noisy construction site. That can't be helped but should have been pointed out. There is only one electric socket in the kitchen which was hanging off the wall and so couldn't be used. So we had to use the lounge sideboard for the kettle etc The TV reception is very poor. The bathroom is poorly lit and has a rickety sliding wooden door that means anyone in the lounge can hear everything! There is a strong smell of sewage that permeates the whole apartment. The numerous air fresheners should have been a clue. The aircon leaked through the bathroom ceiling after 15 minutes use . We reported these faults (some of which have been mentioned in previous reviews) to Cadiz4Rentals immediately on arrival and asked if there was alternative accommodation. We don't mind simple apartments but they have to function and we were paying 138 euros a night for this. They said someone would call the next day to fix the socket. We waited in but the electrician never came. Despite ringing and messaging the Agents, no one responded until 5.30pm. They said sewage smells were common in Cadiz, and offered some more air fresheners, blamed us for opening windows when the air con was on (we hadn't), that the patio furniture was stained due to humidity and that the apartment was perfectly acceptable and as described in the photos.

“Residential apartment”

The best

The apartment is in a quiet area even though there is a busy road outside. The terrace is great. Short walk to the beach. Buses into town. Air con was great and the kitchen had enough equipment for cooking. Cadiz4Rentals staff helpful.

Drains. Smelly bathroom drain. 😑 Very limited supplies in the kitchen such washing up liquid,/tabs, salt, oil.

“Modern, large apartment in bustling city”

The best

A spacious apartment with a huge, nicely furnished balcony with a view over the city streets. Everything worked, the shower was hot and powerful, and the place was clean. There were 2 decent bedrooms with comfortable beds, with a/c in each room. The kitchen is small but fine for basic s/c and has a full size fridge/freezer. There's even a bare balcony out the back door for hanging out washing. The building was very quiet and really close to the beach, as well as an Aldi just down the road and a Express Carrefour for Sundays, when everything else is closed. Bus service is frequent and cheap to get into the centre or it's not too long of a walk. There are bars and restaurants within an easy walk. The key app was complicated at first but it did work. Initial contact with the Agency said that we needed to pick up the key, but it's all electronic now. Modern magic! We enjoyed our stay and loved chilling on the balcony.

To be improved

Not much, the a/c in the front bedroom smelled a bit musty.
