It was a sauna. After I made the booking an email said under "important details" that "Instead of air conditioning in the room there will be a Tower Evaporative Cooler". This is a euphemism for "fan"! I should have paid more attention and cancelled. With temperatures well above 90 degrees in Madrid in June the room was extremely hot and the fan only helped if you were directly in front of it. By the way, the fan made a loud noise if you set it in the rotating position. Also, the shower door did not seal well and leaked water onto the floor...

“Nice rooms with no AC”
The best

Spacious room with comfortable bed. The rooms have NO AC. I probably didn’t check properly and found out after my booking. Madrid can get very hot in the summer and the Fan might not be enough for 2 persons in the summer. Everything else is up to standard it’s just the AC that is missing. Madrid is a walkable city, the hotel is a bit further away from Gran via but is manageable to just walk and stop at a cafe or supermarket for a quick break during your walk to the city center
