“2 Recommend or Not 2 - That is the question.??”

Hotel is perfectly situated within a 5 minute walk to the main centre of Langreo, which has many cafeterias and shops. Although there are other cafeterias closeby, as well as a local food supermarket and a very large chinese store, which sells everything! It was clean and the staff were polite and helpful. Plus the car parking facilities were safe and had immediate access into the hotel. We did not use the Spa facilities. However, the room we were allocated (206) and its furnishings, were rather dark and depressing. It is in need of a re-paint in a brighter colour, as the walls are a dull nicotine shade, with streaky stains on them. The paint was also peeling off, in the bathroom and this is also in the same depressing shade. The twin beds require the mattresses changing, as they are lumpy and uncomfortable, as are the 'bolster pillows'. Finally, the safety deposit box was also broken, so was out of use during the 4x night stay. I did report it to the Reception upon arrival - but no-one came to repair it.

Unfortunately, the breakfast let it down badly. It is the same limited selection of food, everyday, which consisted of 3 supposedly 'Hot dishes'. Bacon, Scrambled Egg and a Spanish omelette (Tortilla). However, they were on an electric hotplate, but sadly, this only dried the rather dry, rubbery scrambled egg up, even more. That it was then totally inedible. The slices of bacon were very fatty and greasy and the 'Tortilla' triangles were left on the side table, so were neither warm nor cold. On our third morning, there was nothing 'Hot' provided ( No Eggs/Bacon/Tortilla) or Fruit juice on the Buffet table at 09.00 yet Breakfast is supposedly to be available until 10.00 There was no one on Reception to ask otherwise. We then ate in a local cafeteria, for something hot, as the weather was cold and rainy. Only semi-skimmed milk is offered and there are no alternatives, for lactose/gluten allergies etc. There were two over ripe black bananas in the fruit bowl for our entire stay. They were absolutely rotten. Today, the teacup I had, had a big chip missing, which is a hygiene standards problem. For a 4* Hotel - it needs re-addressing immediately and somebody in Management, needs to take responsibility for the 'poor standards and rectify them as soon as possible.

The hotel is in an excellent location for touring Austuria.

I have stayed in many 4 and 5 star rated hotels, and this is the first time there has been an additional cost at check out to use the swimming pool facilities. I understand there would be additional costs for nail treatment or massage but not for using the pool only.
