The room is spacious and clean. The staff Xavier, Dora(maybe it's wrongly written!), Vanessa, and then Elena the massager and her collegue the massager too! Cleaning ladies 5*

To be improved

The manager. Not a smile, not a nice attitude, asked myself how is he dealing with a 4* relais termal. No open bar between 2pm and 6pm. If you are hungry, well, you can bite your fingers. The pool is not a pool. Very expensive for what it is. Only 1h spa per day into the inside pool. One day with no water outside, with 43 degrees...

“Relief on the banks of Rio Alhama.”

The Balneario is a restructured attempt at a previous establishment but much more likely to succeed. Located in the rolling, largely barren hills of Navarra/ La Rioja, it was extremely well patronised but with no sense of crowding. Our room was located in a newer annex adjacent to a large original building and was spacious, modern and spotless.. Our pet doggie had the run of the exterior grounds, slightly neglected, but safe. We didn't have time to avail of the spa treatments, but did bathe in the outdoor pool close to our room. Dinner was quite good; 26 euro for 3 courses of excellent local based dishes, some quite unusual but delicious. Excellent local wines, some from renowned bodegas. Staff somewhat reserved, but polite and helpful.

To be improved

Breakfast was adequate, with a combination of cereals, cold dishes, fresh fruits and pastries. Surprisingly the machine-generated orange juice was NOT chilled. The coffee, also mechanised, strong enough to walk on! Overall, a pleasant stay after a longish drive in high temperatures.
