Verified reviews from real guests who have already stayed here.
Proximity to thermal baths and scenic locations was appreciated.
Some positive comments on staff helpfulness; however, language barriers noted.
Thermal pools and common areas received good feedback, though some amenities needed improvements.
Rooms considered outdated, but some guests did enjoy the balcony and heating.
Pricing perceived as fair despite some service and food issues.
Overall pleasant stay with significant issues in dining and service aspects.
“Overall bad experience.”
Very distant and somewhat isolated
US menu and drink prices. I had dinner in the huge dining room and paid $22 US for 2 half boiled eggs, some cod tenders, a glass of wine and water. Having to pay almost $20 US DAILY to use the pools. The nearest town was Fortunate that was very desolate. The best food there was at a Hindi restaurant. The Balneario was founded in 1860 and the structures are due some updating and more renovation.
“I would not recommend”
Pool area ok Location good if you want to be in the middle of nowhere
Booked for two nights and stayed one night due to lack of facilities in room. Hotel bar is across the road and expensive so don’t bother if you want value for money. No minibar in room, no tea or coffee facilities in room and breakfast is from 10am to 12pm across the road in another building! If you want a coffee in the hotel before 10am you go downstairs and pay separate and it comes with a roll and piece of cheese and ham. Roman Bath was closed for refurbishment, pool ok area.
“Fine if you want to chill out at the Thermal baths all day but don't expect much else.”
The only good thing about this place is the Thermal Spa. I don't have anything good to say about the rest.
The view from our room was so ugly. The breakfast was total chaos and the food and drinks so bad that we didn't have anything, once everything had arrived after 10 minutes, we realised there was no point to bother and didn't return the next day. The check out took way too long as they were letting people check in early and I think they might need more staff as the ones that were there seemed to have to do a lot, so didn't really have time to deal with the guests. The place is very old fashioned and I don't mean the decor, everything is old and past it's best. The drinks we had were flat and expensive.
“Great little get away stay”
Very clean basic rooms, comfortable bed. Very warm heating, which we needed this time of the year. Great terrace.
No mini fridge,
“Nice setting near the spa, good clean restaurant with menu del dia, with two options per course. 4 course meal with a bottle of wine. €20 per person · Cons: Nothing really. Was as planned”
