“Great hotel let down by the restaurant”

Located in the middle of nowhere, in mountains. Super quiet and amazing roads leading to it. Great walks around the hotel, some very steep. Great hotel building and lots of old relics from the past, plenty of room everywhere. Good sized rooms and dogs allowed, at extra cost, €15 per night. Plenty of dog walking right out of the door. Pool and spa very good. Free on site parking, with new covered parking being constructed.

The restaurant lets this hotel down, sadly not enough staff to cope. We arrived at about 2pm and our room wasn’t ready so we decided on a late snack lunch. The menu was only a three course meal with a bottle of wine, at €56, no snacks or small meals. We didn’t have dinner as the lunch was too big. At breakfast, we arrived at before 09.00 and counted twelve tables that needed clearing of cutlery and dirty dishes. (Out of about 16 tables in total)There was a shortage of items available, the single waiter couldn’t keep up, no plates or food etc. coffee was cold, provided in flasks, and most people were using the microwave to heat the coffee. We ate out at a local village, about 40 minutes drive away, but easily worth it, we felt welcomed and enjoyed the food and hospitality.

The food was not good. The leisure centre didn’t open until 12 pm I was looking forward to using it before we left but this wasn’t possible

“Family-run chateau with exceptional food and good facilities”

Lovely staff, good room, totally pet friendly, safe free parking, enjoyable spa plus amazing food in the restaurant. The owners are onsite and run the place (wife front of house, husband the chef). This was a second visit and on our radar for a third!

Would like the availability of an afternoon snack but not a big issue.

“Don't believe the photos. The hotel was cool maybe 5 years ago, but now it is not.”

We chose another room, the size was the same, but the design differed from the photos. AC did not work and you can't sleep with an open window because something on the roof is constantly knocking. We almost did not sleep with 2 kids. In the middle of the first day, the electronic lock for the room was broken and had to be replaced entirely. It was a bad SPA and we decided not to stay for the second night. Never again.
