“Barcelo Ourense Needs a Facelift”

The best

The exterior of the hotel looks fine, and the staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. In particular, we had an issue with our safe and it was addressed immediately. The breakfast was worth the coat with many options to choose from. The tiles in the bathroom walls and floor were very nice. However, there were several complaints about the condition of the interior of the hotel and our rooms. There were noticeable stains on the furniture in the lobby. The rooms desperately need a refresh. A new coat of paint, some of the furniture had significant scratches and we noticed cobwebs in the closet. Mold was present in the shower area. No tissues in the rooms and our sheets had holes in them. The sheets were never changed despite a several night stay. The chairs in the dining room were also stained and require a significant cleaning. This is also true of the carpets on the second floor. The lighting system in the rooms were atrocious. We could never figure out which switched addressed which light as sometimes they would go on and other times they would not. We were disappointed in the accommodations, especially since a family member who joined us had been at the hotel about seven years ago and spoke highly of it. One suggestion would be to address these issues during the off season with a much-needed facelift.

Location was great, parking was provided for inside the hotel building and rooms were clean

To be improved

Very limited space for our clothes and suitcases and only 1 hook available for the towels. No milk was provided for on our tea and coffee trays and coffee satchet was not replenished after the first day. We were offered 2 different prices for breakfast if we were to book in advance. I thought this unfair as we would be consuming the same dish whether we reserved.

This hotel offers excellent value for money, especially given its prime central location in Ourense, making it ideal for exploring the city. The rooms are spacious, and cleanliness is a standout—everything was impeccably maintained. The breakfast was a highlight, with a wide and tasty selection of items to start the day right!

To be improved

The service staff could significantly improve. Their unfriendly demeanor detracted from an otherwise pleasant stay—a bit more warmth or professionalism would elevate the experience.

CENTRAL LOCATION WAS GOOD AND PARKING SUFFICIENT ALTHOUGH SMALL SPACES. BREAKFAST ROOM AND SELECTION ONLY FAIR.
