Basetxea apartment by People Rentals

The matresses were a little soft for our liking (little support). Kitchen knives were blunt (if you want to do some cooking, bring a knife sharpener ;) Furniture could have been a little less 'cheap'. Parking in the vicinity of the apartment is a bit of a hassle. There are parking spaces along the surrounding streets, but they are mostly occupied. And when one comes available it will only remain free for a few minutes. Besides that, all streets around the apartment are sloped quite a bit, so you need to be able to park your car on a slope, in (sometimes) cramped spaces. Because of the densely packed buildings in the neighborhood, the sounds of the street do resonate quite bit, so at times it can be quite noisy (cars and trucks need quite a bit of throttle to be able to drive up the slopes). Especially at night, when you will want to have the windows open to let the cooler air in (there is no air conditioning in the apartment) the noise can be very noticable. Bring some earplugs if you are a light sleeper...

We didn’t know in Spain the door you need to pull a bit towards you to open it.

There was only one sofa which meant that we strained our necks talking to each other. The beds have synthetic mattress covers; not very pleasant. Baseira is extremely hilly and there aren’t many restaurants.

The apartment was warm, and we only had one fan for all rooms, which was not enough, and we suffer the warm nights in Bilbao.

There was nothing to indicate that we were so far away from Bilbao. It would have helped to have some written suggestions for places to eat. And there wasn’t enough toilet paper and no laundry soap.
