Many positive remarks about the breakfast quality and options.
Guests praised the helpful and attentive staff.
Overall satisfaction with the stay was highly rated.
Good value for the services received, especially breakfast.
Adequate amenities were provided, including breakfast and common areas.
“Overall nice accommodations within walking distance of most anything you might want to do or see.”
The breakfast was nice and the outdoor common space was also enjoyable.
The A/C did not stay on when set to a particular temp. You had to reset it every so often. Also all of the furniture is very dated.
“Would stay again!”
The staff we interacted with (William, Vanessa, and Fatima) were all very pleasant, helpful and cheerful! The breakfast service was exceptional in comparison to what is typical of a stay in Europe: Nespresso machine, cold water, fresh cut fruit, variety of offerings. The "honest bar" was also a nice amenity, impressed that the donations were used for charitable organizations. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the late afternoon, early evenings. Very peaceful despite being in the middle of the Eixample area. The air conditioning in our room worked well and the shower's water pressure was very good. We also enjoyed the shared library/sitting area and that the hotel was not a noisy place. The only times we saw other guests were during the breakfast hours. It often felt like we were the only ones there! The location of this hotel is excellent- literally 10 minutes walk to Paisage de Gracia, and numerous bars and shops were all around. The metro stop was just around the corner.
Being in Spain, one can expect at times for things to not be as they are at home, so it wasn't a big deal, but the shower was a bit tight for my husband who is over 6ft tall. The ceilings of the bathroom and the entry space to our room were lower than what we're used to. However, the bedrooms' ceilings were very high, which was nice! It was also noted that the plants and gardens of the terrace looked very neglected- as if they've not been watered for some time. I don't know if there's a water restriction or not, but it was not as I'd expected it to look based on the advertisting of the space.
“Lovely old style hotel with lots of character- would definitely book again.”
Old style original decor , high ceilings, wooden lifts, lovely spaces and brilliant staff. Outdoor terrace or balcony to sit outside. Absolutely lovely place to stay.
Slightly awkward being in two different buildings so was too much effort at the end of the day to go downstairs then up again to the terrace. Looked a great space to end or start your day though. 😊
“Ca la Maria is a good choice for a family or group who prefer space over hotel.”
Spacious apartments with a decent kitchen in a central location. Check in was super easy and her's a lift for your heavy bags. The "sun room" is nice and so is the patio but is a bit too hot in the summer.
The walls are thin enough to allow you to hear your neighbor's conversations.
“Perfect stay!”
Everyone & everything met our expectations! Room was a generous size & a decent breakfast
I can’t fault anything
“You know you are in Barcelona...”
The common space - lounge/library/ breakfast area was lovely. There is a large terrace, but when we were there,e it was too hot to enjoy it. The buffet breakfast was excellent and slightly different every day. The room is in a classic apartment building, with plenty of local atmosphere! I liked the artiness of the place - very interesting and lovely modern art on the walls.
We arrived late in the evening, and it was quite a production to get access - in the end, we paid an extra 10 euros to have someone come and help us. He was very nice, but it's stressful not to be able to check in normally. There was staff around at breakfast time but only to help if there was a problem, like berries finishing or how to work the coffee machine. I would have liked someone to be there as a host or hostess, to say "Good morning" and make the tea or coffee - a bit of personal touch goes a long way! The lovely, huge artwork above our bed was full of dust! achoooooo!
