Verified reviews from real guests who have already stayed here.
Highly rated due to proximity to Pyrenees and attractive setting.
General positive sentiment with minor concerns about amenities and service nuances.
Most reviews commend professional and attentive staff, although issues with management were noted.
Several comments on pricing being high relative to services offered.
Mixed reviews; high quality in some areas but limited options for special diets.
No significant complaints but some mention about noise insulation.
“Overhyped”
Beautiful location and building.
It is surprising that it is a 5 star hotel given the fact that you have to pay extra to access all facilities. For example, pool access costs 20eur/person for 50 minutes. There was a strong sewage smell from the bathroom. The complimentary toiletries were not high quality. For example, there was only one shower cap for a two-person room, and very poor quality toothpaste and toilet paper. These things would be acceptable for a 3 star hotel, but not for a 5 star hotel. Overall, it's a very low value for the price paid.
“MAGNIFICO Y RECOMENDABLE”
“Wonderful stay.”
No wonder this hotel has a 5 star rating. Our stay at the Estación de Canfranc was just perfect. The staff were the most professional we have come across in Spain. (Taking into account that we have stayed in all the 50 provinces of Spain).
“Fantastic location. Magnificent views. Very comfortable bed. Extraordinary cuisine.”

“Stunning place and surroundings”
Lovely place, really stunning renovation and atmosphere. We ate at the restaurant which was great and the breakfast was very generous.
The view from our room was disappointing
“interessantes Hotel, aber durchaus mit Nachteilen”
The hotel, labelled as a “five-star-superior, royal hideway” hotel, looks great, as it is located in a unique historical building, which has been nicely renovated. But there are a few things potential guests should know:
1. We booked a “deluxe superior” room, which turned out to be a regular hotel room with very small windows under the roof of the building. So please do not expect too much from your room. 2. The hotel advertises three restaurants, two of them gourmet restaurants. Upon arrival, we were told that the Michelin-star-decorated restaurant is only open for lunch (..?), only Wed-Sat (..??) and that you need to book it months ahead (..???). The other restaurant is open for dinner, but also only Wed-Sat, and you also need to pre-book it weeks ahead (..??). The third restaurant serves good quality, but the menu is typical hotel food such as Cesar´s Salad, Burger and Steak – not what we were looking for. As the hotel is in a remote spot, dining alternatives with interesting cuisine are limited. 3. The indoor pool of the hotel also needs to be reserved ahead of time. To use the pool costs € 20 per person (..?), you then get access for max. 50 min (..?), and you also need to wear a swimming cap (..?). 4. The hotel has no outside facilities whatsoever (no pool, hotel garden, café, restaurant etc.), which is unsusal for a five-star-superior hotel that is located in an alpine mountain setting. 5. The surroundings of the hotel mainly consist of abandoned, partially collapsed buildings that do not look nice. So do not expect a nice setting around the hotel. The valley is quite narrow, thus hiking trails are very steep. Actually, the mountain scenery and the hiking trails are much nicer in other parts of the Pyrenean mountains, so be prepared that you need to drive to go hiking. Taken together, the place did not meet our expectations. With some alterations, and especially with a different management attitude, it could be a great hotel, but as it is, I would recommend that you drive by, take a look at the place and make a few photos, but do not stay there.
