“Lovely house in a stunning rural location”

The best

Stunning location, with gorgeous views (especially from the top bedroom) down towards the coast. Large fully-fenced grounds; very dog-friendly. Modern heating/aircon. Lovely pool and hot tub and barbecue. The nearby village has most things needed on a daily basis, including a good supermarket and several bars/restaurants. Antequera is a pretty 30-minute drive away. The house itself is rustic and quirky, but very well equipped. The agent (Solymar Holidays) was available by text message to fix any minor problems. A really restful and relaxing place to stay, but also a good base for exploring Andalucia.

To be improved

There are few minor inconveniences; probably unavoidable if you want to stay in a rustic house in a stunning location. First you need to be aware that the house is 5-10 minutes' drive from the village, up a steep and twisty concrete track. It's not a problem when you get used to it, but you'll need clear directions to find the house the first time. The main bedroom upstairs (en suite) is reached by a rustic stone staircase from the verandah; another is accessed from the parking area outside and the smallest bedroom has no heating/aircon (but there's a supplementary gas heater if needed).
