“Disconnect and Slow Down”
Mecina is a very small, historic village. We got to know the people who worked at La Cueva de Mora Luna and El Barranquillo the most. Absolutely, the most friendly people and delicious food every time we visited! La Atelier was a great local spot too with really yummy vegetarian cuisine and a lovely selection of classical music. Casa Africa was a comfortable place to stay in the village with an easy, warm, bohemian comfort to it. **IF you rely on wifi for remote work** this is NOT the spot for you to work. We did not experience consistent wifi from any area of the property during the length of our stay; however, if what you want is to really disconnect, Casa Africa is perfect for that. Also, there is a nice garden, but it is connected to the garden next door (just a heads up if you have pets and sharing a garden matters). There is a taxi service to Pitres and back (about 15 euro each way--cash), just search 'taxi' on Google maps. In Pitres, you will find an ATM, a good grocery store, a hardware store for ant traps and the like, etc. There is also a rocky, steep walking trail between Mecina and Pitres that is 30 minutes each way versus walking the narrow road that is 60 minutes each way. In Mecina, be watchful to keep all food in the refrigerator or well-sealed bags to avoid ants and there are many loose dogs in the village (which we had no trouble with, but our pets don't do well with unknown dogs, so just a heads up for others who may have similar type pets). We will come back to Mecina and would encourage others to do so as well. Just do a lot of research of what you want, need, and expect, and you'll be grand!

This house was the perfect place to spend the Christmas holidays! It’s nestled in a tiny village (with a delicious pizza restaurant) and close to beautiful hikes. Coming back each day to watch the sunset from the terrace and put a fire on was the cherry on top. Highly recommended!

“Fantastic, but tough, walks. Cosy house. Great host and views.”
Walking location. Views. Sweet little Casa.
Nothing to dislike.
