“A Very Damp Casa”
In the summer months, this Casa might be great, but we cannot recommend it for a winter stay (early March) - based on our experiences detailed in this review. In the main - this Casa is incredibly damp with dehumidifiers in each room which do not eradicate the problem. The damp spores are in the walls & fabrics - mainly downstairs in the bedrooms and bathrooms. The Casa needed heating early morning and each evening - not an easy task when the electricity trips out constantly. I had the most awful cold 24hrs after arrival, which was probably either caused or assisted by the extreme damp conditions (see pictures). To quote: ‘Mould is a type of fungus that grows in damp areas. It releases tiny particles called spores that can be harmful when breathed in. Mould and damp are found in buildings where there is excess moisture, poor ventilation and/or lack of sunlight’. SUMMARY: If this Casa is to be rented out - facilities need to be upgraded such as towels, duvet that fits it’s cover, a full declutter of rooms, electrical overhaul, etc ….otherwise just keep it as a family holiday house for the summer months .
Here are some of our observations: LOCATION: This Casa is 550m up in the hills and hence 5-6c cooler than the coast. Hence the average March temperature was 14-17c. The Casa was also surrounded in cloud for the majority of the day whilst the coast, 12mins away, was bathed in sun. OUTSIDE: Two lovely verandas catching the sun most of the day with distant sea views - Quiet & peaceful (few barking dogs & grass trimmers around) POOL: Might be heated but it needed a good clean; hence I didn’t use it as I was also concerned if the correct chemicals were maintained. No sun lounger or chair cushions INSIDE: Casa is very damp in March, especially the bedrooms and bathrooms. Dehumidifiers need to be on all the time & emptied!! Electricity: trips out periodically through the day; needs investigation. Hence can’t heat most of the house due to the above Kitchen: No oven just a small microwave, hob with no extractor & charcoal BBQ. Otherwise well equipped.
