“Fabulous authentic stay in Hermigua”
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Buganville for a week at the end of November. This charming, rustic, and authentic traditional house in the village of Hermigua is perfectly located for exploring Garajonay National Park’s many hiking trails and the enchanting Laurisilva forest. The house itself is full of character, with its original preserved wooden floors and a delightful “back-in-time” atmosphere. We especially loved the completely private garden, with a hot tub nestled under banana and mango trees, which we learned (thanks to Rubén, the amazing host) we could freely enjoy. Another highlight was the small roof terrace, a beautiful spot for morning coffee while soaking in the spectacular views of the valley and surrounding mountains. The new mattress on the bed ensured a restful sleep—one of the best we have ever experienced. The house also benefits from its proximity to shops and the Ethnographic Museum and biological finca Los Telares, where we enjoyed great coffee, delicious food, and terrace views. The garden of Casa Buganville is entirely private, and we appreciated the seclusion, while also enjoying the lively atmosphere of the village. The occasional hum of friendly Spanish conversations from the agricultural shop next door, passing workers, or the distant sounds of salsa rehearsals at the cultural center El Convento , the hustle and bustle of daily life created a a sense of place, reminding us we were truly in Spain. Rubén, the host, was excellent—always communicative and ready to assist. We honestly have no complaints, though we would advise taller guests (like my wife!) to watch their heads as some doorways, especially to the toilet and kitchen, reflect the charmingly compact “Spanish standard” of the past. Also be mindful of the parking spot next to the house—its steep, short decline may not be suitable for all cars, but there are plenty of parking options available nearby. All in all, Casa Buganville is a magical escape.
“Wonderful, it became my home from home for 7 days”
Such a sweet comfortable home for a week. Very comfortable bed and settee, outdoor areas fabulous, kitchen a delight to cook in.
I have no complaints

“Wouldn’t stay again but I’m sure it’s better in the summer”
Good facilities
Bathroom having open slats at top of door meant it was cold inside in the evening when showering. The main room was also cold but least had a fire. Probably better to stay here in summer rather than winter
