We arrived at the end of a long day of walking on the same day as the major blackout of all of Spain and Portugal (April, 2025). To our relief, they had a generator and were able to make us a meal and take care of us, even though there was no card reading ability. We didn't have enough Euros to pay the bill. They said, "Don't worry, it will be alright." and gave us dinner anyway. The blackout was still in force the next morning, but they allowed us to leave American money to pay. They were very gracious to help out in a difficult situation.
