Casa do Horreo

This was so attractive that we syncopated our stage to hit this between Arzua and Lavacolla. This was an excellent accommodation for us. The proprietor was very responsive on WhatsApp to our questions and resolved all of our issues with booking very quickly and easily. We arrived early to the property. When we arrived, we introduced ourselves to the proprietor, Pablo, and informed him of our reservation. Pablo was personable and outgoing. He was super accommodating and offered to help in any way possible. However, the room was not quite ready. We asked if we could just get drinks and food and hang out in the restaurant. Pablo said of course. The dining area for passing pilgrims or overnight guests was comfortable and suitable for us as we rested ourselves and waited for our room. We met other pilgrims and conversed while we enjoyed snacks and drinks. When our room was ready, Pablo gave us a tour of the property and all its amenities. First, the temperature of the room and common area was cool. The room was spacious and the bathroom was perfectly appointed with hot water and strong water pressure. The bed was large and comfortable. Celia washed our laundry for 5 euro and provided a drying rack. This worked out great for us. We went down for drinks before dinner. Jesus, the bartender, makes a great 'gintonic'. We asked Pablo to make whatever he enjoys making for dinner. In reviews of Casa do Horreo, Pablo got rave reviews of his cooking. Pablo asked if we were hungry and we said yes. As a starter he brought out Padron Peppers. Salty and perfectly cooked. The second course was a lasagna. Pablo said to allow it to cool because it needed a few minutes to completely cohere it's flavors. The last course was a 8-hour slow cooked pork dish. It was also amazing. We washed it all down with a bottle of house wine. This was the best meal on the Camino for us. The local church is a 15-minute walk away and we attended the Mass there.

Wonderful place right on the Camino. Staff was friendly and caring and food was good.
