“The worst choice in my life”

The worst stay of my life. This was the first time I relied solely on general reviews without looking into individual comments, and that was my mistake. We arrived at the property in the afternoon, and our accommodation turned out to be a basement apartment with an overwhelming smell of chlorine-based cleaning products. At first, I thought it was a good sign—it meant the place had been cleaned. Unfortunately, once the smell faded, we were hit with a musty odor and a general sense of dampness. The bedding and sofa were practically wet. We tried airing out the room and heating it, but there was only a tiny heater available. Every day, things got worse. On top of that, there was mold on the glasses—just like on the shower curtain. After contacting the owner, he promised to bring a dehumidifier. In the end, the dehumidifier pulled over **6 liters of water** from the air! We reached out to Booking and decided to leave the place, even though the owner tricked us into paying for an extra night—pretending there had *probably* been a leak in the apartment above. That was nonsense, as just a few messages earlier, he had assured us that no one had ever complained about this basement unit. Later, I found tons of reviews about this exact property, and I regret not checking them sooner—they all described exactly what we experienced. Additionally, I don’t think **peeking into the bedroom while someone is sleeping** is appropriate. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. No one should have to end up here during their vacation.

Lovely rustic accommodation, full of character, with breathtaking views.

To be improved

Hard to find - 9 km up mountain from Garachico. There was an extremely steep approach with a tight bend from the road which was quite scary.
