“Beautiful location, traditional village setting.”
- The location is beautiful. Taucho is a beautiful traditional village. - The linens in main bedroom were good quality cotton and very nice. (Not the same in second bedroom though, they were synthetic) - It can get cold at that altitude but thankfully there was a portable gas heater. - The kitchen was very spacious & good quality heavy pans (I like to cook) - the house was clean inside and plenty towels provided. - allocated parking space close by.
- The property is very dark. Not much natural light and the stark LED lightbulbs are cold and harsh making the place feel cold and unwelcoming. I think this is pretty typical in Tenerife, but we have seen warmer bulbs here… they would help guests feel warmer and cosier. We managed to resolve this to some extent by buying some candles to help it ‘feel’ warmer, with so much marble and high ceilings it felt chilly! - There were no condiments provided… no basics like salt & pepper. No soap or shampoo in bathroom. This is hard for travellers if you are trying to travel light because you need to buy everything. - no knives for vegetable preparation. - There were lots of flies on balcony. They didn’t seem to bite or be interested in us, but we did feel we couldn’t sit outside. There was no other place to sit outside to enjoy view (there was a bench on the street, but couldn’t eat there) This place could be so much nicer with some warmer colour lights, Also perhaps a fly screen on balcony - or more effort to clear flies (there was a blue light, but not solving problem) - this traditional style house could be really lovely if the lighting was changed… and perhaps a log burner! (The gas fire needs a window open when it’s being used, so it seems a bit pointless creating draught to put fire on) I don’t mean to sound over negative… these are things that could be addressed by the hosts without too much expense …and the location is well worth a visit!!

“Good value accommodation for 2-3 people, a little isolated and not really suitable for sun lovers”
The host was responsive to our queries and actioned them quickly. The property is a little difficult to find and guests need to be aware that this is Casa Mari Carmen y Jose C which has a separate entrance, on a lower road, to Casa Mari Carmen y Jose A and B! There are no shops within walking distance of the property so a car is essential and it is not suitable for people with limited mobility or small children. The entrance is down a steep rough drive, prettily lined with many green plants, and there are steps to enter and also to access the bedrooms inside. These 2 internal double bedrooms have windows into the open plan living/dining/kitchen area. However, these are not glazed so anyone in bed will hear all sounds from other guests in the open plan area. The garden is for plants and vegetables and the accommodation outside seating area, though large, is fully covered. We were there in January so it was possible to sit in some sunshine for a short while during the late morning when the sun was low. All the outside seating is also on hard chairs and benches and there are no sun loungers. There are many cats which beg for food and fight, so are noisy at night.
The accommodation is spacious and comfortable for two people. However, although there are two double bedrooms and a sofa bed too, there is insufficient comfortable seating for more than 3 people. There is just the sofa bed in the lounge and this will not easily seat 4 individuals. Despite having the space for more sofas, the only other seating is on hard dining chairs. There were no food essentials in the kitchen (salt, pepper, cooking oil etc), not even a couple of complimentary tea bags. There was washing-up liquid and hand wash, but no shower gel, no shampoo nor washing machine detergent. Be aware if you arrive late and have not had time to shop on the way, you will have tap water only.

Beautiful accommodation with a nice garden and garden grill. Very quiet place with a wonderful view. Contactless check-in and the owner ready to help on the phone.
Soap and shampoo were missing in the bathroom.
