“Overall, a pleasant, relaxing, enjoyable break - but no view!”
Very peaceful, tranquil location, quite high up in the hills - perfect for walking/hiking away from the crowds. Good size main rooms with high ceilings, and two bathrooms (which is always a bonus). Genuine, authentic 'Canarian cottage' feel, with lovely original tree trunk rafters, not 'faked' boxed out beams. Great response from owner (Christo) when I reported a couple of small problems (see below).
The biggest disappointment by far was the lack of a view from the property. I had thought that being so far up the mountain we would be likely to get a panoramic vista of the east coast, but because of the lie of the land and adjacent buildings (including a ramshackle/semi-derelict eyesore right on the other side of the road), this was not to be. Another problem was the precarious steps inside and outside - several clusters of 2 or 3 steps with totally different rises and goings which caught us off guard a few times, particularly in the first half of the week till we had got used to them! We arrived at dusk on a fairly cool Saturday evening and the house felt rather cold and unwelcoming. However, there are plug in radiators in all rooms so these quickly took the chill off the place. (Later in the week, when the weather got really hot, it was lovely to be able to go inside to cool down) The kitchen only has an induction hob and a microwave oven, so we couldn't even make toast... (disaster 😂). Also, the outside lights weren't working on arrival but luckily I had taken a torch which sufficed for the first two nights. I reported these issues to Christo on the Sunday and he kindly drove 75 km on Monday to bring us a new toaster and fix the lights for us, thankfully! 👏🏻👏🏻 Another couple of minor criticisms: No BBQ 'tools' available (tongs/spatula/fork etc) Very limited crockery - no proper bowls, only small tumbler glasses and tea/coffee cups. Electric kettle conked out, so we had to heat water in a saucepan on the hob. VERY windy road up to the property - didn't bother me too much, but might be offputting for more nervous drivers. 15/20 minutes drive to nearest supermarkets and 'normal' restaurants (the one in the village is a marquee in someone's garden, with rather overpriced 'international quisine'!)
“Superb”
super cozy, old rural cottage with a nice outdoor area with a BBQ and a small, clean pool. the small village around and the nature was beautiful aswell. the small Restaurant in the village is an absolute must! amazing food, super cozy and friendly, very good prices
had some Bad luck with the weather so sometimes it was a bit cold - but the lovely hosts reacted immediately and brought extra heating!
