Casa Pepe Las Candelarias

We stayed in this accommodation and, while the location is quiet and peaceful, our overall experience was disappointing due to several serious issues with the property. Three days before our arrival, the owner sent us a photo via WhatsApp, mentioning a "small issue" with one of the walls caused by a broken pipe in the kitchen, which he assured us had been resolved. He explained he hadn’t had time to repaint the walls but made it sound like a minor aesthetic issue. I replied that this wouldn’t be a problem if it was just cosmetic. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we quickly realized the situation was far worse than described. The entire ground floor showed significant wall damage, with shredding walls and signs of dampness, which I suspect were the result of a flood rather than just a broken pipe. This is clearly an issue that appeared long before, not only 3 days prior our arrival. The smell wasn’t noticeable on the first day, but it grew worse as the days went by. After traveling around the island during the day, we’d return in the evening to a strong, unpleasant moldy smell that hit us as soon as we opened the door. The smell was so bad we couldn’t stay inside with the door closed. On top of this, there was a strong, unpleasant odor in the patio where the washing machine was located, adding to the discomfort. This was a serious health concern. To make matters worse, the living room door couldn’t be locked due to a defect. This meant we had to carry all our valuables and money with us at all times, which was inconvenient and stressful. It also felt unsafe while sleeping. It felt misleading to be reassured about a "small issue" only to discover such extensive damage and discomfort during our stay. The smell, the structural problems, and the door lock issue made our time in the house unpleasant and concerning. While the location is lovely, I cannot recommend this property until these significant issues are properly addressed.
