This is a casa fantastically located in a tiny village in the mountains. It is peaceful and quiet. It's a full house with a living room, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and comfortable bedroom. It is spacious. It's close to a parking lot, a shop and some restaurants.
“Superb base for a walking holiday in the area”
Traditional house in a quiet, pretty part of the village. Kitchen was well equipped.

Mountain views. Quiet cobbled narrow characteristic house and village. Hiking trails nearby. Peace and serenity all round. Unique. Probably best for nature lovers of healing peaceful unique historic Spain.
It did rain briefly, but it is in the high mountains of the Sierra Navada.

“Picturesque lodging built in traditional Alpujarras style. Cozy place to stay!”
First, I think it was Pilar (but I might be wrong.) I'd had a slight difficulty arriving in Capileira... but she and her granddaughter (?) were so kind as to look for me and guide me to Casa Rocio through the fog a little beyond the bus station. What a wonderful person! As to the house itself, what a cute, delightful gem of a place! It was constructed in classic Alpujarras style with wooden beams holding up the roof. There is a comfortable living room, functional kitchen, bathroom, and the bedroom. That bedroom was super-cozy under the blankets despite it being slightly chilly during my visit. I loved the cute and tiny window! Of course, the exterior of the house is painted white, and is accessed by slate stairs, and one walks right out onto a somewhat steep cobblestoned alleyway. Capileira is all about the atmosphere and this house reflects it perfectly in its traditional style. Lucky for me, the fog and clouds cleared by about 14:30 and I was able to take a gorgeous hike into the Poqueira Gorge, passing some talkative sheep in one field, walking under some trees with hundreds of chestnuts scattered on the ground, and imbibing the crisp, mountain air. What an experience!
This has nothing to do with Casa Rocio. However, it may be useful info for tourists. Although I had purchased a bus ticket from Granada to Capileira, the bus driver informed me that he could only drive as far as Bubion, which is the town slightly downhill from Capileira. If I understood correctly, the recent rains and road construction had made the final kilometer impassable for the large buses. So, I had to walk that kilometer through the fog, which wound up being doable. I thought it was going to be much worse. As to leaving Capileira by bus, it appears that a mini bus comes to Capileira to bring all passengers down to Bubion, where the passengers wait a little bit and then transfer to the larger bus to be on their way. So, when leaving Capileira for Bubion, it seems that the "mini bus" is running. However, that "mini bus" may or may not be running in the opposite direction as you are heading to Capileira. (This information was current as of March, 2025, but this could all change at some point.)
“Perfect spot for or a cozy couple.”
