“Mountain villa in picturesque and historic location.”
The location was truly stunning, and the people we met who live locally - a mix of ex-pats and Spanish - were friendly and welcoming. The outdoor pool was a good size, and the hot indoor small pool was a lovely treat on a cloudy day. The views from the apartment are wonderful. It was really great being right in the National park as the variety of walks straight out of your front door are magical. The lady I spoke to when booking was very kind and polite and left us a welcome gift for when we arrived. Learning about the history of El Acebucal was really interesting as well, and it was very atmospheric staying in that hamlet.
I don't think I was given enough warning of the state of the mountain track I had to drive on for a few km to get to the property - for someone driving a hire car with the steering on the opposite side to what you are used to, on the opposite side of the road to that you are accustomed to, it was incredibly scary, and we only left the hamlet once because of this. I thought the villa was amazing, but it needs a lot of tender loving care and a really good scrub. It was very dusty, lots of dirt under the beds, and the kitchen utensils were greasy and sticky, and the oven was not usable as it was filthy. The pools were beautiful, but the indoor pool was over chlorinated, so we daren't use it for long at a time . The cold pool was hardly chlorinated at all and was very cold. The garden was quite overgrown as well, and the sun loungers were mouldy and dirty. It looked like the villa hadn't been used for a long time and needed a lot of attention. The spiral staircase is very narrow and needs mentioning on the details - I have a slight hip problem and did find it a little uncomfortable going up and down it.
“everythig fine!”
“Very good”
Location and comfort were great, we loved the quietness and the remoteness, it's a rural haven. Also great having the bar/restaurant open during the daytime.
Kitchen could do with some new mugs, most are cracked and definitely a new kettle! Terrace furniture a pretty tired mixture taking up space, two sunbeds instead of two tables would have been nice. Towels all thin. Cost quite a bit more per night than the hotel in Frigiliana with breakfast.
“Superb”
“Really enjoyed it 😊”
Fantastic traditional house in a beautiful location. Great facilities (2 swimming pools) and well fitted out in the kitchen and bedrooms.
The lights inside were a bit cold. Softer, warmer lights would have made it even more homely
