Casa rural Abatetxe

We had a great stay ! Our room was more than comfortable and very clean, we slept very well and enjoyed the Jacuzzi. Matteo offers vegetarian/vegan breakfasts and dinner options with vegetables he produces on site, which we had, and they were delicious ! You can also cook your own meals in a really well equipped kitchen. The place is self-sustained, with electricity created from solar panels and a wind turbine. We loved the game room with many games from pool table to darts, there is even a slackfline ! There is also a small well-equipped gym and sauna but we didn't have time to try it. The house is situated at then end of a road and is very quiet. The views over the mountains are beautiful and it is very peaceful. Animal lovers will enjoy the donkeys, horses, chickens and dogs. Dogs are welcome which was great for us as it meant we could come with our cocker spaniel. It is really nicely situated between Bilbao and San Sebastián. We could enjoy both towns as well as the little villages along the coast. A great place from which to enjoy Spanish life. Matteo is really nice and is available to help if needed and has very useful advice on visits and the area.

The peace and quiet. As a dog lover it was a great surprise to have the 2 pups around. The breakfast was great and having the kitchen available for making some meals was a nice way of enjoying the property

The location is stunning with amazing views. You take a single-track road to get there so it is well off the beaten track, but well worth it. The property is spot on with large rooms and en-suite bathrooms. It is self-sustainable with solar panels for power. I didn't use the gym, but it looked fit for purpose. You can't really walk to villages but it's a good location to drive to various surrounding cities (45mins to Bilbao). It is also a great place to wake up to if you've spent the day in a city, a nice change to city centre hotels. Ideal for a combined city/country break especially if you like walking.

Lovely building, excellent breakfast and dinner. Great facilities. Incredible attention to detail. Comfortable beds. Lovely outside spaces. Very quiet. Loads of animals! On our arrival we opted for a glass of wine before a lovely vegan and gluten free dinner. A nice breakfast the following morning before departing for Bilbao. Matteo couldn’t have been more helpful. Him being Italian was an added bonus for me to be able to practice my Italian. He actually speaks very good Spanish and English too. Wonderful

Amazing stay, from the location on the mountain overlooking the valley, the big space inside, floorheating, incredible comfortable bed and pillows, very elegant, cozy interieur to the very friendly host, everything is perfect here. This is one of the appartments where we were sad that we booked for one night, we should have stayed at least a week.
