Location. Reminds me of Alpine house, absolutely charming. Really only locals who were very friendly. Host was lovely
Nothing really. As we were there before the season started no restaurants open ..but we like it that way.

“A house and village to love!”
A visit to P.N. Serranía de Cuenca in autumn is a real treat. You'll have amazing touristic highlights like Cuenca, Albarracím, Ciudad Encantada, Callejones and Nacimiento de Rio Cuervo almost for yourself. Vibrant tree colours will spice up every corner of the harsh but peaceful landscape, only disturbed by large flocks of sheep and cows, moving to new grounds. Unlike the spanish coast, it can get wet and cold in autumn. So you'll need a really good shelter. Casa Rural Castellanos is all that. A traditional village house, with lots of space, great and modern comfort and excelent heating. Attended by a lovely and devoted couple that live a few houses down the road. The village is pretty much abbandoned this time of year, about 40 people live there permanently. You absolutely shouldn't miss the easy climb to the 'Castillo' that start behind the church, and passes the small Plaza del Torro. The view at Huélamo is gorgious.
One burner of the ceramic hob doesn't function.
“Experiment successful!”
A dainty little town in the middle of nowhere. Just the way I wanted it! I was looking for the clearest skies with the least light pollution to setup my telescope and observe the Galaxy M101, where recently a supernova was observed. And I found that in Huelamo! Here is the map of worldwide light pollution that led me to Huelamo: https://www.lightpollutionmap.info/#zoom=10.00&lat=40.2582&lon=-1.7432&state=eyJiYXNlbWFwIjoiTGF5ZXJCaW5nUm9hZCIsIm92ZXJsYXkiOiJ3YV8yMDE1Iiwib3ZlcmxheWNvbG9yIjpmYWxzZSwib3ZlcmxheW9wYWNpdHkiOjYwLCJmZWF0dXJlc29wYWNpdHkiOjg1fQ== The skies reminded me of the coastal skies of the 70's where there was little light from neighbouring towns!!
The skies were only partly clear, as the weather kept changing and clouds kept on passing over! BUT, I did get my Galaxy picture! ;-)
