“Absolutely amazing experience. Anna and Enrique are amazing hosts.”
Location, host service, rural climate
“Rural location, comfortable room, the nice pool was very welcome in the heat! Outdoor space, great views across the valley, Anna and Enrique are friendly and helpful owners who took care of us on arrival and were on hand for queries and recommendations. · Cons: Track off the main road to Catifalarga can be a bit tricky to navigate but the rental car survived 😊”

“A beatiful, quiet place to stay in Sierra Nevada, close to Capileira”
We have had a wonderful week at Casa Rural Carifalarga! It is a most amazing place to stay, situated just above Capileira. With beatiful views, on a clear day all across the Mediterranean, quiet and tranquil, it is a perfect place to stay wether you want to go hiking in Sierra Nevada as we did, or jiust explore the several beatiful nearby villages. The rooms are nice, with a rustic touch, we had a wonderful terrace. The homemade breakfasts.was our favorites, as was also a swim in the pool returning from long hikes. The only "noise" was birds singing! The hospitality and friendlyness of the owners, Enrique and Anna certainly made our stay specially nice. Short way down to several restaurants in Capileira the nights we did not enjoy the tasty, several course honemade dinner from their kitchen.
“Beautiful location with mountain views. Very quiet with a nice swimming pool. Ideal place to relax and to hike. Good breakfast too.”

“A beautifully rustic and romantic mountain retreat with the most stunning views where we enjoyed celebrating my upcoming”
The property was absolutely beautiful, rustic and quirky and our lovely room also had a large terrace, which had the most stunning mountain and sea views in the far distance! You could even see Morocco on a clear day just before sunset. The hosts, Enrique & Anna were absolutely charming and such talented chefs! The breakfasts were all homemade and delicious, especially the home baked bread and the delicious variety of homemade jams. The 4 course evening meal, freshly prepared was exceptional with exquisite flavours. We had the Prawn and Octopus Risotto, which Enrique cooked to perfection, (no surprise coming from Valencia!) The mountain villages of the Alpujarra are all beautiful, perched high on the mountain cliffs and lovely to visit and wander around and there are also some incredible mountain walks in the area. We loved our stay here and normally stay in 5 star hotels in cities in Europe or in the Paradores in Spain but can recommend this beautiful property just as highly!! Thank you so much Enrique & Anna - you are both wonderful hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you!!
“A mixture of Mountain views , rustic charm, and delicious locally sourced food.”
As the photograph shows, this is a very remote and rustic mountain Lodge, surrounded by nature and silence. It’s a perfect place to get away from it all. There are only six rooms, and the lodge is run by a lovely couple who provide the guests with comfort and delicious food with great engagement. There’s also a small swimming pool which we did not use because the weather was too chilly. The rooms are in vine covered buildings with private terraces, The lobby restaurant has a fabulous view over the valley. Our rustic but lovely room had a beautiful private Terrace overlooking the vast valley, all the way to the Riff Mountains of Morocco! We stayed only one night to celebrate my birthday, and I can imagine two or three nights to fully appreciate the nature and peace would be great. There’s also excellent hiking trails even crossing the property. The restaurant for breakfast and dinner has a long glass wall with a stunning view over the valley. We were off season so it was very quiet, but I think they have music events and more going on during the summer months The dinner was a four course meal, exquisitely prepared, served and presented, there was a choice of three different main courses. It’s the only option however. The breakfast(included in the room price) was delicious with a wide variety of homemade cakes, locally baked breads, local cheeses, fresh fruits, and yogurt, cold meats, homemade jams, delicious coffee, or tea. Everything the heart desires.
The dirt road from the street up to the lodge is extremely bumpy and difficult. Enrique really needs to do some road improvement. When we arrived, some of the potholes were being filled, so maybe the problem has been solved in the meantime. My only other remark is that being so remote one is more or less obliged to stay in the lodge for dinner. We are an older couple and did not have the energy to venture out in the darkness through the mountain road to the village. But we wanted dinner in the lodge anyway, and it was truly delicious at €45 per person. Not including wine. Gourmet level. The village of Capileira is not far where one could also eat.
