“Some setbacks, but a comfortable, peaceful stay.”

The house sits in a rural setting, surrounded by farms, which made it serene and rather bucolic. It is a fairly large property with ample space for parking, about 7-8 minutes from Béjar. The house was comfortable and fairly clean inside. Beds were comfortable, with good mattresses and a variety of pillows. Bedding and towels were clean and there was a good supply of towels, toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen utensils, and tableware. Outdoor spaces had plenty of sitting areas, with beautiful plants and trees, and a pleasant decor. In spite of the heat during some of the days we were there, the house stayed cool so long as windows stayed closed with shades down during the day and open at night. We enjoyed the outdoor sitting, made cozy by solar-powered ambient lighting. Most windows had bug screens, which was a lifesaver feature. Given the amount of insects, screens allowed us to properly ventilate and cool down the house at night. Great decision on the owners part!

To be improved

When we arrived, the outdoor spaces were rather dirty, with leaves, branches and natural debris. The swimming pool took 2-3 days to be ready for use; it had a lot of particulate matter that proved to be difficult to clean. It required quite a bit of back and forth with the owners to get the pool cleaned. We also experienced a loss of running water for about 14 hours, which proved to be rather disruptive, caused by a malfunctioning of the water pump. It took a while to get a plumber to come, but he came, it was a quick fix. A final setback occurred as we were ready to leave. One of the outdoor faucets connected to a hose, which had a serious drip all along, blew up. The valve was corroded and broke. Owners were understanding and patient as these issues surfaced and responded quickly.
