“Not recommendable due to massive construction site next to the house”
Casa Sol is a town house in the middle of El Paso in walking distance to tourist information, bakery, fresh produce market and a big supermarket. The pictures reflect the town house advertised. Casa Sol is wonderfully renovated, and the combination of old and new furniture creates an appealing atmosphere. There is a full kitchen with all the appliances one needs to cook a full meal. The fridge could be updated. The beds in the two bigger sleeping rooms are rather small for two adults. The newly remodeled bathroom has a toilet and a shower to which a boiler provides enough water for two people. The house was generally very clean, except prior renters did not clean the kitchenware well. The house is slightly wet (maybe due to the winter climate) and during winter rather cold (a heater was provided for us). As a result, our clothes even in the closet always felt slightly moist. We recommend providing a dehumidifier. There was a washing machine in a building next door that we were allowed to use. The private parking space in the center of El Paso is very convenient. There is a garden adjacent to the house with an orange grove. We were allowed to pick some oranges to make juice; the taste was wonderful.
Unfortunately, the beautiful house does not compensate for the noise by the massive construction site next to the old theatre building and right opposite the house (see pictures attached). We were not able to relax due to the loud noise of the construction site (hammering, stone saw, drilling, heavy machinery, workers screaming at each other over the noise) starting at 7AM to 2PM and from 3PM to 5:30 PM. This construction site will at least last another year or two to finish. The noise could even be heard in the sleeping rooms at the other side of the building. We had to sleep with ear plugs. No sleeping in, no late mornings, no calm breakfasts, no relaxing at the house during the day. This is not what I had in mind for our vacation. I am disappointed and sad especially as I gifted this trip to my partner. Additionally, there are pavement works on the street facing the house and right next to the kitchen wall and window. The construction can be heard and felt through the wall. This maybe finished in a month or two. Neither construction site was stated in the description of the house at the time of booking nor mentioned by the host prior to our arrival. When informed of the noise and that it can be heard in the sleeping rooms the host did not offer any help or assistance. There is a secondary road next to the house connecting El Paso with Los Llanos. Unexpectedly, this road was highly frequented every day of the week and traffic could be heard from early morning to late evening in the big sleeping rooms. We did not use the sitting area outside as it is directly next to this road.
