“A beautiful villa in the perfect location which made for a heart full family holiday. Would return in a heartbeat.”

A beautiful villa, with plenty of space both inside and out, enjoyed for 2 weeks by our family of 5. We especially loved how private the villa was, with no-one overlooking the outside garden/pool area. The bifolding doors were great, allowing us to all feel like we were together as a family whether we were indoors or outdoors. There’s plenty of space in the garden for sunbathing/eating no matter the time of day we got the sun, with the option to sit in the shade also available. The pool was warm enough for us, and was plenty big enough for the 5 of us to be in there together splashing around. The bedrooms were comfortable; having the nets on the bed were an added bonus; along with the 3 bathrooms, 2 of which are on-suites. The kitchen had everything you’d need to cook all meals, with plenty of crockery and cutlery. Dishwasher and washing machine always a must for our family of 5. The photos of this villa do not do it justice, it is very spacious and has everything you need to enjoy time in the sun with your family. We loved the location, (a car is a must), close to the beautiful El Cottilo which was only a few minutes drive away and where you can see the most beautiful sunsets over the sea. Thank you for a lovely stay.

To be improved

There was nothing about the villa which we didn’t like. However, there were a few things which could improve the villa. We had no full length mirror anywhere in the villa, we tried to locate one to buy but unfortunately we had no luck doing so. The bbq is located near the back gate, which is out of the way of the outdoor social areas, with no real dedicated place for cooking outside. We would have preferred a much more dedicated outdoor cooking station, which allowed us to cook in the company of those sunbathing or in the pool etc… Personal preference also, but we would have preferred a coal bbq rather than the gas one provided. There is no aircon, although the fans in the property kept us cool enough, had the weather been any hotter during our stay we may have struggled without it.

Manuel was waiting on arrival, although do not rely on google maps, ask Manuel for directions! The villa was spacious for four of us and easy to navigate. We liked the quiet location, it is a short drive or walk to reach El Cotillo for shopping, restaurants, beaches etc. The pool area is not overlooked by neighbouring properties which was very welcome however if either side are occupied you will inevitably hear each other when using outside. Manuel left some suppies, including a bottle of wine, which was a lovely gesture.

To be improved

As mentioned before the villa does need some attention, fixtures and fittings are starting to wear and in need of maintenance or replacing. Whilst it doesn’t detract from the solid structure of the villa it does lose on the full enjoyment given the cost of rental. There isn’t air conditioning, not a problem in January, and there are mosquito nets over the beds but they need to be properly fixed so they dont sag onto the bed when you are sleeping. The location is good if you don’t mind a short walk after a night out (20 mins or so) but there is nothing in El Roque itself.

The best

The property is very private, well appointed and comfortable. We like the quiet location of El Roque. The closest restaurants are in el Cotillo, which is about a 20/25 minutes walk or 5 minutes by car. You will need a car to move around the island, the property does not have its own parking space but there is ample of space to park outside the villa. We travelled with two teenagers and we all have plenty of space. The pool area is lovely and the water was perfect. The beaches and water sports around the area are great Our host, Manuel, was fabulous and could not have been any more accommodating to our needs
