“Most beautiful hostel I have ever stayed in.”
There are basically two reasons people choose hostels instead of hotels or apartments: 1) to save money, 2) for the community, to meet people and socialise in your living space. With cheap accommodation all over Tenerife, what sets this place apart? - location is BEAUTIFUL! Beach is a short walk away. Sunsets from the terrace are absolutely gorgeous. There are many days worth of hikes in every direction. - Oli (the host) is super friendly. He is a British expat who lives in the hostel with the guests, is genuinely invested in the experience of being in Tenerife, exploring and having fun. He’s knowledgeable about the island and its attractions and about seeing the place as an outsider. Also I enjoyed his sense of humour - the volunteer team are also super lovely. In my case this was Shelby and Celina. - hostel itself is clean and tidy, with lots of scenic spaces for eating and socialising. - most of what you need is included in the price - breakfast, towels, soaps, etc. if you ask nicely other stuff can be provided too. Compare this to hostels with lower upfront fee but inflate their cost with add-on sales of basic amenities. - the village it’s situated in is small and quiet, with a few restaurants and a little shop. Compared to the south of the island, there are very few tourists here. Transport links by bus are not super frequent but the bus stop is nearby and the buses are punctual and perfectly functional. - the other guests! Everyone I met in this hostel I would gladly have spent time getting to know better. Your experience may vary, but the place fosters a strong sense of community with guests from all over the world.
- there are no lockers. It’s hard to imagine someone stealing in a place like this, but personally I wouldn’t bring an expensive set of camera equipment or a fancy laptop for example. - the hot water in the shower was a little unreliable. The weather was warm enough that this didn’t bother me personally. - this is not a party hostel. (This is a pro as much as a con, but if you’re looking to get hammered and stay out late every night this location is probably not a good fit)
“Such a lovely vibe. Thank you so much to Ollie and the volunteers x”
“Surprise of our road-trip 🤩”
Casanaga was our last stop on a roadtrip and felt like a gamble at first — hidden behind the Anaga mountains, cloudy, and in a tiny village. Locals were welcoming, we had a chance to eat at the village pub, and shared laughs despite our broken Spanish. Casanaga has a carefree, don’t-worry-be-happy energy, and we met friendly travelers at breakfast and dinner. Surprisingly, it turned out to be the highlight of our trip (mostly thanks to the wonderful volunteers❤️!)
A note for future guests: during our stay, the guest kitchen area didn’t have electricity (including the fridge). We had planned to use it and had even checked ahead of time. These things happen, and the staff were very kind and let us store our food in the main area instead — problem solved. Still, we’d recommend checking in advance via WhatsApp, where they respond quickly and helpfully.

“Exceptional”
It was my second stay there and with my friend we love it! Amazing terrace.
“The people here are absolutely amazing— Ollie and his team are truly wonderful. This is the kind of hostel you only come”
This property is beautiful and secluded but still close to the beach and a supermarket and a bunch of little restaurants.
