“Clean, spacious, and a fantastic view”
It is a generally quiet place with a beautiful and unique view, different from anywhere else we've ever been. The apartment has most things you need to stay a week. Warm water, washing machine, large bathroom, good sized bedrooms. Everything was very clean and in great condition. Nothing was out of place. The temps were cool inside and out, but generally sunny, sometimes misty. It was a clean and newly renovated place, comfortable and safe. The appliances are very good and very clean. It currently is easily accessible from the main road, though it takes a little time to drive up. The altitude/elevation is a bit higher for those of us from regions of the world were the altitude is low. Therefore, running on the exercise track may not work out well for some. My husband and daughter were out of breath after one lap of the track down the street from the apartment, despite having climbed Teide the week prior. So, it takes a little time to drive up and adjust. But it's worth it. We loved the atmosphere, the accommodation, and just knowing that the community is trying to rebuild. It is an interesting location, fascinating, but also solemn. We enjoyed our stay in this area and recommend it for those who are willing to drive, hike, and learn more about the region. I wish we had more time to get to know more locals. It is something we like to do whenever we travel to learn more about a place. We didn't see many people in this area as it is sparsely populated. There are people, but there are infrequent encounters. There were occasional dog barks and chicken clucking and roosters crowing, but not many people in the area. There are construction crews occasionally making their ways down the street working to dig out the road closer to the lava field, but it doesn't hinder anything. The host gave us some ideas of things to do and we actually did some of them. The rest of the island is accessible from this point, but does take time.
There was really nothing that we didn't like. The only things were minor. We wish we had known sooner that there was a very nice hiking trail, San Nicolas , just outside, walking distance from the driveway. We discovered it the day before we left. It's not anyone's fault but our own, really. We had been more consumed by our hike and bivouac on Teide, that we didn't have as much time to research Las Manchas. If we had known about the hike right outside our door, we would've done the hike properly. We discovered it the day we headed out towards Roque de Los Muchachos. Therefore, we didn't spend much time hiking it. We only hiked 30 min before we had to come back down. But it's a really nice view and wish we had known ahead of time. I also wish there had been an indoor drying rack for clothing, perhaps a folding airer could help. Maybe there was one, but we didn't find it. But the outdoor drying rack doesn't allow for clothes to dry well. The dew sets in, and while clothes may dry in the sun, by the time you return home, the dew has re-wet the clothing. The mist also keeps the clothes wet and it may not dry. Therefore, a small fold up drying rack could be beneficial.
“Superb”
“Fantastic place. Comfortable. Safe. Next to the lava field (fun for photos)”
A brand new and comfortable space equipped with everything needed for your stay. The convenient self-check-in and check-out process made our late-night arrival and early-morning departure effortless. The host is highly responsive and communicates promptly via email. We enjoyed the location among the lava fields.
