Verified reviews from real guests who have already stayed here.
Service and staff (Maite) are repeatedly highlighted as exceptional and very welcoming; personalization and hospitality are strong positives.
Location and views over Toledo are consistently praised (views, quiet, easy walk into Toledo). Strong positive sentiment.
Amenities are mixed: pool, gardens and breakfast praised, but specific negatives mentioned (mini-fridge noise in a room, lack of TV, access requiring a car for some). Net sentiment leans negative when these practical issues are considered.
Multiple reviews explicitly praise cleanliness ("limpieza de 10", "sparkling clean"). Overall sentiment: clearly positive.
Rooms and decoration receive very positive mentions (stylish, comfortable), with a few small negatives noted (separation of shower by an open door, minor fridge noise).
Not explicitly mentioned in the reviews; assigned the target overall rating.
“A refined, private and tranquil local cigarall estate carefully set amidst stunning scenery”
The view of old Toledo from the intimate dining room where delicious breakfast is served at a communal table along with classical music by the kind and attentive hosts is a poem in stone. Framed by rolling hills of cypress trees and olive groves, the general aesthetic of the cigarall, whether in arabesque arches, the carved dark wooden beams, skinny ochre brick, or desert flowers is unmistakably local to the city of three cultures and the semi-arid heartland of the Rio Tajo.

“Absolutely wonderful experience and staff!!”
Our stay was absolutely wonderful!! The rooms are exceptionally designed and clean, including the highest quality sheets and towels. At breakfast in the spectacular dining room, there was a wide offering of fresh, delicious food. All of the people working at Cigarral del Carmen are the upmost professional, friendly and kind. We HIGHLY recommend staying here and enjoying the special experience.
“Horrendous Experiance”
Title: Horrendous Experience: Unsafe, Unhygienic, and Hostile Toward Families After traveling seven hours with our 1.5-year-old twins, we arrived at Cigarral del Carmen hoping for a relaxing stay. What we encountered instead was a disgraceful lack of professionalism, shocking behavior from the staff, and unacceptable conditions. Prior to our arrival, we had multiple confirmations through Booking.com that the hotel would accommodate our infant twins with two cribs. However, upon check-in, the staff—particularly a woman named Maiti—claimed they had no knowledge of our request. Although she initially agreed to bring a second crib later in the evening, she later refused, citing she was “off duty,” and informed us that only one crib existed on the entire property. Her behavior throughout was incredibly rude, cold, and unaccommodating. The hotel owner was no better. Rather than attempting to resolve the situation, he was aggressive and confrontational, even suggesting that we had somehow misled them — despite the clear documentation we had in hand. Due to their negligence, one of our baby daughters was forced to sleep on the floor. To make matters worse, the following morning, we were abruptly thrown out of the hotel. The owner then falsely accused us of property damage when communicating with Booking.com — a completely fabricated and insulting claim. As for the facilities: the room had significant water stains under the windows, the furniture was extremely worn and dated, and the overall cleanliness was poor. Breakfast was dreadful — very low quality and lacking even the most basic standards. Perhaps most shockingly, there were cockroaches underneath a display of hats in the lobby area. When our daughter innocently picked up a hat, several cockroaches scattered from underneath — absolutely disgusting. We travel frequently and often stay at five-star properties worldwide. Never have we experienced such mistreatment, unsanitary conditions.
“An excellent place for a well-needed retreat”
The location is excellent, just a little walk away from city center and 8 min by car from Puy du Fou Spain, which gives plenty opportunities for exploring. Also suits those who want to have a short trip from Madrid to Toledo. Rooms are clean, staff are friendly and Spanish breakfast is on another level- fresh, tasty and with decent portions.
Should have booked more days. Next time I’ll stay longer
